l'EESttSAL AND SOCIETY.
All society emtf personal notes for tAe Sunday issue of the Journal, to secure publication, mutt tt in iAe hands of th city editor by Saturday no.u Tho dedication of the Propylwum Toesday evening -will be the signal for a round of entertaiments which are to be held in that building. The gatherings there -will xs of great variety, as the several rooms .have been engaged for lectures, clubs, dramatic performances, concerts, socials and business meetings. The promise, too, for numerous pocial gatherings between now and Ash Wednesday is excellent, and several are announced for the coming week. Large evening parties are the exception, -the large companies being limited to the afternoon receptions given to ladies. During the past week there have been bat few entertainments. Luncheons were given by Mill Florence Balcer. Mrs. George N. Cattrjon aDd Mrs. V. J I. Coleman for -visiting igr.ests, and card parties by Mr. and Mrs. E. JM. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Co Gin and Ur. and Mrs. George J J recount. Mrs. P. 1. , Ua.nond, of Woodrufl Place, gave a chocolate. Mrs. W. P. Kappet an informal thimble party. Miss Mary McKmney entertained the Heading Club at Mrs. V. J. McKee's, Mrs, John C. S. Harrison and Miss Fannie McCarty had an old-fashioned reunion of old friends, Mrs. 1). F.KeUey was hostess for an informal company for Mis Laura liaUiday, and Mrs. Simeon 15. Carey gave a iarje reception zor ner aaugnter, .airs. Brumback, of Toledo. Now that there are so many chocolates, luncheons, receptions and other entertainments where a table is set a description of an exquisite decoration will not be out of place. The entertainment at which the decoration was used was &4-o'clock tea. In the dining-room was a square table, there being at the center of each side a heavy silver candlestick, with a rope of pink rosea festooned from one candlestick to the next. From the chandelier hang a large ball of pink roses not a tight-set ball of pink but with the roses stuck in lootely. At each corner of the table was a Hat bouquet of roses, with a rope of like flowers falling over tne corner down to the point of the tablecloth, and in the center of the table was a cut-glass bowl filled with roses. The table -was rather large and the profusion of Mowers was not one too many for its size. The square of candles with the xopes of roses between would be beautiful ior a large dinner tablo. The candlesticks must be heavy enough to firmly support the floral rope. For a small table the corner bouquets and rose bowl could be dispensed with and pretty dishes filled with candies substituted. Pink is decidedly the lavcrite color for decoration at present. . .Personal Mention. Mr. W. F. C. Golt was called to his home in Delaware, yesterday, by the serious illness of Ills f at&er.
