IL Kelley were married, at St. Johna Church, the ceremony being followed by a breakfast party at the bride's aunt's, Mra. R. Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Norria celebrated their "wooden" redding. Thursday evening Ilia Eralyu Austin entertained frienda informally with a progressive angling party. Friday was quite a gala night. Miss Katharine and Mr. Charles Allen Lewis gave a large germanatthe Denison. Mr. and Mrs. IL II. Bees celebrated the twenty-lifth anniversary of tbetr marriage and Miss Grace Morrison and Miss Helen Frettyman vera gives a complimentary dancing party by about twenty of their young gentlemen friends at the home of Miss Morrison. The coming week being State fair week there will be somewhat of a dearth of entertainments, but there is always enough going on to keep everyone busy, for there is always plenty of company and many small teas and dinner, pleasant on account of their Informality. . The Closin' Exercizes of the Winter Seshun of the Sleepy Holler Dcestrick Skule" was an enjoyable entertainment given by the Seventh Iresbyterian Church at tho Virginia-avenue Rink last Wednesday evening. It was the first of the kind given In the city, and drew a large audience, and netted the church a handsome sum of money. Miss Hattie Wlshard had charge of the preparatory work in organizing the class, and to her is due the credit of success. The entertainment was a novel one. It was supposed to be a representation of tbe district school ot long ago, when such characters as Squlro Ktcker, Deacon Wayback, and Dr. Slowcoach, composing the district board, thought it their duty to resist every innovation in spelling, and in methods of conducting the exercises. The programme consisted of the ususal school examinations, Interlarded with singing and recitations after the manner of the olden times. The boys were dressed in homespun, and wore no coats, while the girls. In their pantalets and linsey-woolsey" dresses, were in marked contrast U their sisters of the present day.
