. Tho Dircctoirc style promises to nxlo everything this sprinjr, ami, in common "with all the former fashions, big and little, broad and narrow, fat and lean, long and short, will ba "Directoire" or die. Of all the fashions, though, it is doubtful if there has been ore for years that is so universally becoming to all figures, and one -which costume, carriage or calling dress, or ball toilet. The straight lengths, well formed, . will grace any woman, but badly made, 'ought rather to be consigned to the flames or old clo man. Tho Empire veil is about to give its expiring gasp, and all on account of Jane Hading, who introduced it into this country, expressing the disgust she felt at seeing how ugly a woman could appear with one on. Some persons have actually grown curious to know what the originators of fashion will brir.g out next. Charles Dadley Warner, in Harper's Monthly, gives a sKeT-cu 01 ine revolution a red nat toilet, life and manner of one woman, wrought such a marvelous it ; can be proven article of dress has If the hat change and that an m suen an inflnence, here is a field for the philanthropist. It might be well for a community to appoint a woman of taste, who would male e it her duty to look after other women, who, with a little judicious pruning, would become valuable members oT society. When she sees a woman with "perfectly horrid' hats, fhe must walk that woman into a milbnery store and get her the proper bonnet she needs in order to make her what she ought to be in the matter of dress. It's not to be supposed that every woman would let another choose her hat, even if it was to be g-iveu her gratis, and of conrse there would have to be some provision made for the reimbursement of the milliner. The only thought is that what worked wonders with one woman might be 'used to advantage with others, and as there are so many women constantly exercisod about tho headgear of their neighbors, tliey might be willing to take the tirst step in the reformation. Mrs. and Miss Hunter. IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE. Early on Sunday morning she crossed the narrow border that divides the known from the unknown, "and left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be' since she lingers there Her sweet disposition and loveliness of character endeared her to all with whom she came in contact, but for those who knew her best she reserved the fullness of her nature. To them 6b o gave all that love and friendship demanded. Bright and harpy always, she encouraged others to bear life's burdens bravely. True to her friends, her church and her God, she completed, in twenty-three years, the mission we have been given three score years and ten to perform, and, though the end came quickly, she was ready and fell asleep In the faith she loved. There is no death! What seems so Is transition. This life of mortal breath Is but a suburb of the life RI vsii.n , Whose portal we call death. THE STATE AT LARGE.

The Safest AND most powerful alterative is . Ayer's Sarsaparilla. Young and old aro alike benefited by its use. For y- the eruptive dis eases peculiar to children nothing else is so effective as this medicine, while its agreeable flavor makes it easy to administer. "My little boy liad large scrofulous ulcers on his neck and throat frota which he nuffered terribly. Two physicians attended him, but he grew continually worse under their care, and everybody expected ho would die. I had heard of the remarkable cures effected by Ayer's Sarsaparilla, nnd decided to have my boy try it. Shortly after lie began to take this medicine, the ulcers commenced healing, and, after using several "bottles, lie was entirely cured. lie is now as healthy and strong as any boy of his age." "William F. Dougherty, Hampton, Va. 44 In May last, my youngest child, fourteen months old, began to have sores gather on its head and body. "Wo applied various simple remedies without avail. The sores- increased in number and discharged copiously. A physician was called, but the sores continued to multiply until in a few months they nearly covered the child's head and body. At last we began the use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla. In a few days a marked change for the better was manifest. Tho sores assumed a more healthy condition, the discharges were gradually diminished, and finally ceased altogether. The child is livelier, its skin is fresher, and its appetite better than we have observed for months." Frank M. Griffin, Long Toint, Texas. " The formula of Ayer's Sarsaparilla presents, for chronic diseases of almost every kind, the best remedy known to the medical world." D. M. Wilson, H. D.i Wiggs, Arkansas.
