It appeafs by the Cincinnati papers, that a number of wealthy and enterprising utlemcn in the vfefitern states, contemplate forming an association for the purpose of engaging in the whale fishery and scaling voyages to th North Weit Coast of America. It is stated lhat some of the preparatory 'measures lor this extensive enterprize. have already bren adopted. Two vessels; are to be built at Cincinnati the present year, each of 350 toni burden, and a tender of 70 or 80 fo.n fitted out for such voyages, to descend Ihc Ohio and Mississij;. pi rivers as early hi (he Spring of 1824, as the waters will permit. The. vessels are to be commanded by captains Mack and Molthrop', to whose enterprise it is said the scheme. owes its origin.

The tApensc cf buiMing and outfit is estimated at .SO.OOO, with the privilege of extending it to $100,000. Should nodi an undertaking be put into complete operation, (which we sincerely hope it may) the beneficial erTccts would not only be felt by those immediate!) concerned, but it would extend itself over the western 'country generally. Dear Sir Rut little business of an important character has beeii finally acted on during the present session. ' Among the accidents which happened in Richmond on Christmas day, is the death of Mr. John Brown, a native of Scotland, who has been in this country about two months and came to receive the property oHm uncle (VV. Mr. Brown was in company with a friend at the Eagle hotel on VVedneaday night-at:d as they were leaving their room on the sd story

to descend the stairs vVith their arms affectionately thrown round each other, they lost their balance and fell over the banister from the third to the first story completely through the well of the stair-case. Mr. B. was precipitated on his head-which was reduced to the consistence of a mummy, & died immediately. His companion, more fortunate than himself, fell upon himi and was not seriously injured.
