'cnt, I do hereby make known and declare that the faid diflrift of Louisiana fliall be, and the fame is hereby divided into five diftricls, which fliall be laid off and bounded in the following mariner, viz. I ft. all that part of the faid dUlrift which lies above the Milfouri river fliall form one division or diflrid by the name andftle ofthediflrift of st. Charles; 2d, another diltrift to be called the diltnct of it. Louis, fhallbe bounded by the Miflilfippi on the north, and on the fouth by Phtin creek, from its mouth to its fource, thence by a due weft line to the foik of the Mcrimack, called the Arenean, thence down the faid fork to the Merimntk, thence up the faid Kltriniack, to the upper Settlements on tlut river, and thence by .1 dnc weft line to the weltern line of Louifiana ; 3d, thf dillritt of st.
