The chairman of that committee (Mr. Brown), stated that the committee could flod no law authorizing It* payment, ana therefore refused to allow it. Attention was called by Dr. Jameson to a resolution passed some years ago, authorizing the publication of all matters in tbe German paper that was published in the Dally and Weekly Journal. The debate took a wide range. Messrs. Cottrell and Gelsel opposed the payment of the claim. In their opinion there were no German* in the city but what coufd easily read and Interpret English. Eighteen patient* were reported in the City Hospital, by tho Committee on Benevolenre. The epsotal committee recommended granting prayer of petition of citizen* of tbe Seventh and Eighth Wards, asking that the Cincinnati Railroad awltch be removed from the west side of Virginia avenue to a point on the
oast side of said avenue.
Tbe committee reported adversely to grant. Ing tbe request of tbe Cincinnati, Lifayette and Chicago Railroad Company to lay down an additional track from the west side of Virginia avenue to near th^east line of the corporation line. Report referred to City Attorney to Inquire whether that company had
any vested rights In that street.
