The report of the Freedmen’s Commissioner in North Carolina sboWa that there la oonsldarable suffering there among the Freedmen, from non-payment of wages due them, and from Inability, by reason of short crop*, on the part of employer! to support or pay freedmen until the next planting. The season opens during December. Three thousand four hundred aud thirty ratlona were distributed to alck persons, orphans, and destitute freed people. Two hundred and thirty schools are attended by 12.600 scholars.
