On the 2l»t day of January, l»«7, at a regular meeting of the association, a committee was appointed tc Investigate and report upon the practicability of opening, at an early day, a uouse of refuge for homeless and destitute women. At tbo close of the daily union prayer meeting on the morning of the -lth‘ of February, a committee waa appointed to act with a committee from tho Young Men’s Christian Association to secure a suitable

building for such a home.

Mrs. Smith, formerly Ike Matron of the Home, and now a City Missionary, gave a Very Interesting account of the workings of the Institution, the feelings and actions of the Inmates. She read copious extracts from the journal kept by her In which every interesting or unusual incident was noted down. Addresses were then delivered by Rev. Mr. Prsy and Rev. C. K.Slms, the latter of whom described a visit ha had made to tha Home, and spoke of the esusee leading young girjs to lives of shame, analysing at some length she customs and duties of society In regard to these fallen ones. •“ The meeting was very Taterestfng throughout, and we ragret that every one interested In the good of humanity and the elevation of the raceronId not b« present.
