SPECIAL NOTICES.

Is StifeiltUtfl necessity? This question Is practically answered in tbe affirmative by thousands of physicians every day Sometimes they prescribe the ordinary forms of alcohol; sometimes tinctures which arc simply Inferior alcohol, more or less medicated; but no s sail proportion of the faculty give the preference to HOSTSTTEB’S STOMACH BITTERS as the most carefully prepared medicinal stimulant at present known. It is impossible forprejudice itself to be blind to the marked success with which this extraordinary tonic and alterative has been administered in cases of dtsfxfsi a during the last twentv years. If it were possible to canvass the whole country for cases in which it had effected a cure of this obstinate and agonizing disease, they would number millions. No wonder, then, that it has become a btaxdxbd midioinx in every State, city, town and village in the United States, and that names, the most distinguished in literature, art and science, are the vouchers for its remarkable properties. The immense manufactory at Pittsburgh, with its ex tensive storehouses, is the largest establishment of the kind in the country, and, probably, in the world. The amount of manual labor employed in the preparation of the Bitters, to aay nothing of the steam driven machinery, is greater than that of any other proprietary medicine establishment on this continent, and, by the blessing of Providence, the beneficial results of this une qualed tonic and alterative arc co-extcn«ive with its continually increasing sales. nov26deod w2w

DR. TOBIN'S VENETIAN LINIMENT.

A HUMBUG. How often we hear this expression from persons reading advertisements of Patent Medicines, and in nine cases out of ten they may be right. It is over nineteen yean since I introduced jay. medicine, the YENETTIAN LINIMENT, to the public. I bad no money to toadvertiao it, so I left it for sale with a few druggists and storekeepers through a small section of the country, many taking it with great reluctance; hut I told them totei anyone have it, aad if it did not do all 1 statefien my pamphlet, no one need pay for it. In some stores two or three bottles were taken on trial by persons present. 'l was by maay thought crazy, aad that would be tho last they would see *f no. But I knew my medicine was no hum bog. In about two months I began to receive orders for men Liniment, some catting it my valuable Liniment, wh# had apfesed to sign areoeip* when I left it at their store.
