Shocking Results of m Affray—A Girl Pursues Her Father’s Assassin, and is Fatally Wounded by Him. Cairo, November 12.—An old family quarrel, with a woman In the case, culminated ter* rlblv yesterday, at Blandvllle, Kentucky. A. J. Warden, county clerk, considering himself deeply wronged by O. D. Campbell, formerly sheriff, threatened to kill Campbell on sight. Campbell heard of tbe threats; business compelled him to come to town; Warden advanced; Campbell retreated, warning Warden not to follow. After ref resting ten or twelve paces, Campbell shot Warden In the mouth, at sixty yards, with a pistol. The ball lodged in tbe back of the neck, and was taken out. Warden may recover. After Warden fell, hia daughter, aged eighteen, took her father’* pistol and rushed at Campbell, who ran, begging her to let him alone. After running fifty yards, Campbell turned, shot a piece out of her ear, and continued running. She then shot and missed. November 13.—A special to the New York Herafd from New Archangel, October 8. say*: A formal transfer and delivery of Russian America to the United States Government, took place to-day by Cautain Pe-trichoff, acting commissioner In btbalt of tbe Russian Government, aad Major General Rousseau. At three P. M. a battalion of United States troops under command of Major Charles Wood of tbe Ninth Infantry, was drawn up In front of tbo Governor’s re ld»cce. By half post three a large concourse of people bad assembled, comprising Americans, Russians, Creoles and Indians. At the last named hour, tbe jlussian forte and ll«-t fired salutes in honor of lowering the Russian flag, but the flag would not come down. In lowering it tore Ue entire width close by tbe halyards and floated tort' feet from tbe ground. Three Russian sailors attempted to ascend the inch and s half guy ropes supporting the flag staff, but each failed. A fourth ascended in the boatswain’s chair, seized the fl *g and threw in the direction directly beneath him, but the motion of the wind carried It off. Five minutes after lowering the Russian flag tbe stare and stripes went gracefully up. Major General Lovell Rousseau had tlm honor of flinging the flag to the breeze, the United States steamers Osalppee and Resaca at tbe same lime honoring the event by firing

salutes.

As tbe Russian flag was lowered. Captain Pestrechoff stepped forward and addressed

General Rousseau as follows:

St. Louis,November 13 —The annual meeting of the society of the Army of the Tenneasee was held to-night at Mercantile Library Hall, which was crowded with a brilliant audience. The address of welcome to the members of the society was delivered by Surgeon E. C. Franklin, who gave a rapid sketch of tbe formation and deeds of the Army of the Tennessee and tendered to its officers a warm and cordial welcome to St. Louis. Tbe regular annual address was delivered by General Sherman, who entered into a rather derailed account of tbs operations of the army while under hi* command, beginning with Chattanooga and following tm course to Savannah, thence through the C •ronnas to Washington He also alluded, in a rather philosophical vein, to tbe cause of th« war, attributing .it mainly to the acts of -xtrerae men. North tod South, and looked hopefully to tbe future, urging every man to do hia duty aa hi- Judgment prompted. He scouted the Idea of another attempt to destroy the nation, and said if sueh an effort should be mode, the next Northern lavasiou of tbe South would not merely devastate it. but regenerate it. There were an direct politteal allusions made, but he took a calm and conservative view of the present and future condition of the country. When General Sherman had tint-bed, General Howard delivered a truthful aad glowing tribute to tbe private soldier, portraying hia trials and hardships, bis enthusiasm aad valor, in vivid colors. The bolt was beautifully decorated with flogs and banners, and the various paraphernalia of war. A tent waa erected on the platform, and a section of artillery and a stack of amall arms occupied a prominent position. The audience was very enthusiastic, and loudly cheered Generals Sherman and Howard. The mention of the names of Grant, McPherson, Ord, and other prominent participants to the war, elietted prolonged applause. The exorcises were Interspersed with music by the post band ef Fort Leavenworth, which
