A member of mv totally was afflicted with on irritation of the throat, attended with a disagreeable cough. 1 hod for some months previous thought Slat a preparation baring for its basis the inside bark of white pine, might ba so compounded os to be very useful in the diseases of the throat and lungs. To test tbe value of it to the case alluded to 1 compounded a small quantity of the medicine that I bad been planning, and gave it in teaspoonfuldoses. The result was exceedingly gratilyiug. Within two days tho imitation of the throat was removed, the cough subsided, and a speedy cure was effected. Soon after this, 1 sent some to a lady in Londonderry, New Hampshire, ffho had been suffering for some weeks from a bad cough occasioned by a sudden cold, and had. raised mucus streaked with blood. She soon found relief, and sent for more. She took about ten ounces
