Important Invention.—We learn that Dr. T. H. Cavanaugh, for some time past a elUxeu of New Alba^f, has perfected, and is now having manufactured, a working machine, of what he denominates the '’Acme Light,” which exceed* In brilliancy and Intensity any thing of the kind hitherto invented. It is designed for locomotive head lights, coast light houses, steam and eail vessels, theaters, balls,
concert rooms, etc.
Some Idea of the Importance of this Invention may be seen by comparing It with others. Engineers inform us that It le with difficulty they can discern obstructions of any magnitude upon the track fifty yards ahead of tbe engine, with tbe reflector* now used, at a speed of twenty mile* an hour. With tbe "Acme Light,” tbe inventor guarantees the engineer shall be enabled to see tbe smallest obstruction at least three bn ndred yard* ahead of the engine, giving ample time to stop tbe
train, and avoid accidents.
Another recommendation of the "Acme Light” Is lu cheapness. Tbe laventor estimates tbe expense of lighting our Music Hall not to exceed tbe coot of twelve ordinary sixed
