■Washington, Saturday, December 22. It is understood that the Military Commission at Kichmond, Virginia, before whom Dr. Watera waa on trial for murdering a negro, to be dissolved, and that no trial* of civilian* should take place before military tribunals. This action is taken in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court in the Indiana
cases.
The amount of national bank currency issued during the week ending to-day is $199,636. From this is to be deducted the currency returned, including worn out note*, amounting to $21,234 32, leaving in actual circulation at this date $298,307,569. The amountof fractional currency received by the treasurer from the printers during the past week was $352,140; the amount shipped during the week to assistant treasurers and national banks was $549,000. The securities held by the treasurer of the United States in trust for national banks reported tc-dav were as follows: For circulating notes, $346,256,650; for deposits $f public mouyes, $38,933,950. Total, $370,190,Mr. Price, of Iowa, will introduce a hill at an early day to provide for the better security of the Government against the possibility of fraud in the redeeming and destroying of
fractional currency.

tion.

Mr. Ramsey followed in behalf of the Crown. The jury returned in the Smith case; there were eleven for acquittal and one for con-
viction.
Terrence McDonald was placed in the bar; be was charged with being a British subject; the indictment is the same as Madden’s. The counsel asked the postponement of the case till December 29. to prove that McDonald is a naturalized citizen of the United States. The application was refused on the ground that naturalizing in the United States does not exempt him from the liability as a British sub-
ject.
