Amuaements thla Krenlng. METROPOT.tTAM THEATER-Mr. E.lwln Adams—Head Heart. RERIOMER.—Hon. John Pitcher, Jihljio of the First Judicial Circuit, baa tendered hla resignation. Criminal Court.—The Court met, yesterday morning, and adjourned until two o’clock thi* evening. Comm 18HION.-J.C. Caetaire, of Louiavllle, Kentueky, was yeaterday apointed a Commlsaionor of Doods for the State of Indiana. . Circuit Court.—The Court met and granted Sarah Com I son a divorce from John Lomtson. It adjourned until nine o’clock tbla morning. ^ ^ ^ IIrkokk Justick Scli.ivam.—Michenl Keefe was up, yesterday evening, on the ehargea of' assault and batt ry, and one of provoking a»- ■ mlt and battery, and paid $24 SO for the

same.

£JT We had the pleaaure, last evening, of meeting our follow townimnn, Mr. J. M. Baker, who has for some time past been “ rusticating” in tht different capitals of the land “ across the water.”

U (julte a number of persons were up before Justice Sullivan yentenlay, on the charge of Illegal voting, somo of whom were discharged for want of evidence, end others held for further examination. Police Court.—Yesterday, Samuel D#vls, for Intoxication, paid #10, and Lewis Bishop, Stephen Murphy, B. Smunk, John Orace and George H. Hays, for the same offense, were sent to Jail for ten days each. KuTWe publish, this morning, the official vote of Marlon county. It was received at tco late an hour for us to figure majorities, but will give them to-morrow. In the meantime, our readers can exerclee their Ingenuity In working them out if they desire. IjT We are glad to learn that our former townsmen, Mr. M. L. Johnson, has established an extensive booltblndery at Topeka, Kansas, and is doing a flourishing trade. We cordially Indorse Marcus as a high toned gentlemen and a finished workman. The citizens of Topeka will never have canse to regret his having pitched his tent In that flourishing town. Fair.—The Edinburg Fair, which was to hare come off some time since but for the rain and high waters, will posttirely commence on the 16th of this month, next Tuesday. Arrangements have been made with the railroad* to carry freight and passengers at half fare. Every other arrangement will be made to make this one of tho most interesting and agreeable exhibitions of tbe season. Common Pleas Court.—This Court met, yesterday morning, and proceeded with tbe work of calli ig the docket; also, the following guardians were appointed: Mary A. Burk, guardian of John E. Burk, and Henry Shukhurst, guardian of If. O. Wilson. The Court adjourned until nine o'clock this morning. Fenians.—At a meeting ol tho Robert Emmett Circle of the Fenian Brotherhood the following officers wers elected to serve during tbe coming year:’ « Center, James Bennehan; Treasurer, Richard Simpson; Secretary, Henry Barrett; Safety Committee, Captain James Hagerty, P. Curran, John Landis, Jeremiah O’Brien, James Highland; Finance Commlttoev Edwin Hogan, James Ross, James Highland. ^ t^A correspondent, writing from Bainbridge, desires to know if J. C. Mason and John Carter voted in this place on Tuesday. They left there In the afternoon and voted In Balnbridge, and it is suspected that, bofore leaving, they gave they the cause of Ood and humanity “a lift” In thla city. Any Democrat cognizant of the fact of their having voted in this city will please commuolcste with Balnbridge, In order that they may be “ put through.” Accident.—Yesterday morning about three o’clock, Mr. Jaeob Rdfel, when passing along with his horses and wagon near the Eighth Ward school housa, drove into an excavation which had been made In tho street for a gys main. A leg of one of his horses wao broken, and It was afterwards shot; all of which seems to have been caused by the negligence of tbe parties concerned in not having a light or other safegutrd, at the place where the street was torn up.

AN Alliance or Ideas.—Am American lately travelling in Europe, on a certain occasion, asked an Englishman In regard to whether a certain place was the one toebange cars, and was answered, “ Sir, as you Americans seem to fraternize with the Russians there is one In the cars, and you can ask him.” Similar to this, If a radical asks a Democrat how the election haa gone he replies, “Sir, as you radicals seem to fraternize with tho negroes, there is one and you can ask him.” Amnaenaenl*. Metropolitan Treater — Beneeit or Edwin A^aMS.—The “ Dead Heart” will be pieiented to-night for the benefit of this talented artist, one of tbe most popular actors that visits our city. This announcement should, and doubtless w 111 fill the house. Mr. Adams remains but a few nigbu here. The theater was filled, laet night, to witness the presentation of" O'Keefe’s admirable comedy, “Wild Oats,” and the Interlude of a ‘‘Day in Purls,” and from the manner in wMcb both pieces were received, tbe audience was evidently well satisfied with flm manner In which the different character* were pre-

sented.

They purge out th* foul humors which breed and grow distemper, stimulate sluggish or disordered organs Into their natural action, and impart tone and strength to the whole system. Not only do they cure the every day complaints of everybody, but formidable and dangerous diseases. While they produce powerful effects, they are at the same time, in diminished doses, the safest and best physic that eaa be employed forrhildren. Being sugar coated, they are pleasant to take: and being purely vegetable, are entirely harmless. Cures have been made that would surpass belief, were they not substantiated by men of such exalted character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Many eminent clergyman and physicians certify to the public the reliability of our%emedies, while others have sent us the assurance of their conviction that our preparations contribute immensely to the relleftwf our afflicted fellow

men.

The Agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis our American Almanac, containing directions for the use of these medicines, and certificates of their cures of the following complaints: Coetlveness, Bilious complaints, Rheumatism, Dropsy, Heartburn, Headache arising from foal stomach. Nans**, Indigestion, Morbid Inaction of the Bowels and Pain arising therefrom. Flatulency, Loss of Appetite, all Diseases which require an evacuant medicine. They also, by purifying the blood and stimulating the system, cure many complainto which it would not be supposed they could reach, such as Deafness, Partial Blindness, Neuralgia and Nervous Irritability, Derangement of tbe Liver and Kidneys, Gout, and other kiadrod disorder* arising from a low state of the liody, or obstruction of Its functions. Do not be pnt off by unprincipled dealers with other preparations on which they make more profit. Demand Ayer's and take no others. The sick want the best aid tbere is for them, and they should have it. Prepared by Da. J. C. AYER A CO., Lowell, Massachusetts, and sold by all Druggist*, aad dealers in medicine everywhere.
