drawn.

Ooi.Mnv at Anderson.—Wo learn fro* Republicans that the Ogleaby meeting, at Anderson. on Friday, was almost a tolal failure. The Republicans of Madison county are not numerously radical, and they are taking a quiet, easy, safe and righteous stand for the National Union piatfortn.—Kokomo Tribune. SERtors Accident.—Wo hoar that Mr. John Wltmer, living about two miles south of Millorsburg, was shot and quite seriously wounded, on Monday last, by one of hts neighbors, who, seeing only part of bis person through some bushes, mistook him for a wild turkey. Ho Is In charge of Doctors I.atta and Spnrklin, of this place, and Dr. Larlmore, of Mlllmburg, who think ho will recover*—0o m then Democrat. —The following are the Democratic nominations made In Posey county: For Senator—Joseph Showers, of Posey. For Joint Representative—Louis Richter, of Vanderburgh. For Representative Posey county—Csptaln Wolfe Hines. For Sheriff—Redding Dew. For Auditor—Bush Gardner. For Treasurer—Kuseell Blockley. A Happy Conversion.—Among the many happy conversions to the glorious doctrine we advocate—the doctrines of the Bible and the institution—we record none with more pleasure than that of Thomos A. Armstrong. Esq., an old gentleman of fine education and unusual strong mind. He has been a radical during the war, voted with the Republicans on all occasions, but he Is now most enthusiastic. over the liberal and Christian doctrine? of the Philadelphia Convention. It does one good to receive congratulations and enoournsements, as we have, from such a good man. Kokomo Tribune. MEt,ANrnotY ArciDEjfT.—We have to record a most melancholy accident at Bourbon, on the 33d ultimo, by which our friend D. McDonald Is deprived of his son, Edgar, one of the brightest boys we ever met. On the afternoon of the 38d. Edgar, a boy of some four years of age, climbing on a wagon loaded with wood, was thrown under a wheel by the team backing up, and the wheel passing over his chest crushed him In such a manner that he died In about an hour after the accident. We most sincerely sympathise with the bereaved parents to whom the loss “seems more than they can bett.''—Plymouth Demo-

Romance in Reai. Ijee.—Last spring a young lady of wealth and beauty came to this county on a visit, and Invested largely In real estate, paying the cash for the purchases. She circulated around here pretty freely and became well acquainted. Last Wednesday she got to Joking with our handsome young clerk, and bantered him to give her a marriage license, at the same time giving the name at a young man residing lit Patoka, In this county.
