AH Government securities have depreciated since our last review. They, however, still tear good pr'cee, the 6 per cent, gold bearing, and 7-33 currency notes both being above par. Government stocks are weak, in anticipation of a return of a large amount of 5-20’9 from

Europe.

Gold opened strong, hut upon finding some difficulty of borrowing upon coin collateral, the market fell off l>i@2c. The Post's money article says: The loan market is active at 7 per cent. There is considerable inquiry for accommodation on call, but payments for Government gold, which amounted to $7,000,000 to-day, were provided for, and do not contribute to disturb the money market. The engagements for to-morrow, however, are large, and amount eo more than

$0,000,000.

The stock market is stronger than yesterday, and there is a fair demand for both speculation

and investment.

The revolution at the stock exchange seems for the present to have spent the mass of its force, and symptom* of a revival of confidence are apparent. But for the derangement in the money market, caused by treasury sales of some $30,000,000 in gold during the last ten days, it is not generally believed that any serious trouble would have been produced here by the panic in London, except, loeed, atemporary depression of the quotations of some stocks of which large amounts have been

held in England.

The loan market is active, and closed at 7 percent.
