monetary Affairs ua New York. Nxw York, April 10. The Commercial mjs. The stock market is weak. ApprthensIORs of cholerlTXre sadded with the responsibility for the change in our ■board; 1-10 per cent, per day Is very freely offered. 1-82 being bid. Humors aro circulated on the street that the Secretary of the Treasury will anticipate the payment of the interest upon the May coupons, ami also that the assistant treasurer is at present selling gold. We have sufllcient grounds for stating that these reports have no foundation in fact. Tboro is reason for believing that the secretary doos not contemplate placing any gold on the market previous to the payment of the May coupons, and probably not for sometime after. European news has stayed foreign exchange. It is thought in banking circles a certain amount of 6-20’s may be sent home, and the same view induces importers to avail themselves of present low rates of exchange for making remittances.
