The buildings are worth .,, and probably cost twice that amount. The Committee also reported that the Post House wa not included in the donation. CITY ATTORN'EY. The City Attorney reported In favor of accepting the resignation of Messrs. Culley and Yanlaningham. The resignation were received. Also, as to the jH titionsof Messrs. Hamilton and Langsdalc, that it was doubtful if a purchaser at a tx a!e can recover money paid by him Nraiise the property sold wa exempt from taxation, the question being one of law, and if the money i paid upon a mistaken view of the law. it cannot be recovered back. Tbe Roard ef Engineers submitted a rejrt in relation to drainage. The report states that surface drainage is diflieult, on account of hange of grade, the natural drains having Wen obstructed. The report estimate the respective co.t of covered brick and wooden sew er at 10 for brick and $5 forwood, j r lineal foot. The Committee d'H- not recommend woenhn sewers as being so durable as brick, but estimate that a wooden sewer, properly constructed would last twenty-five year. The report wa a-ccpted. Rarrttt's excellent taste and full toned and melodious voice, lull justice, while the scene of deep pathos with which the character abound, moved many of the audience to deep emotion. Mr, Rarrott pro es himself perfect master of the human passions, and w hatever he essays to portray seems at once subject to hi power.
