NOTICE The Market-master of Yinccnncs,is determined to enforce the Borough Ordinance against every person who sells provisions before ten in the morning, at any other place than the Market House on market days, which are Wednesdays and Saturdays only. During the last week, the editor of this paper was attacked from two sources, unexpectedly and undeservedly. Mr. J -mis Ewing, lately a candidate for the Senate, in his vindication of himself from charges made against him previous tr the late election, slipped out of his path, in his accustomed style of digression, and bespattered me unmercifully at every turn in his ramble. If th s gentleman had taken prudence to his counsel, he w ould not have hazarded so much;if he possessed one tittle of the honor of which he has often boasted, he would not have drawn at me, at all He, however, always makes it necessary to advert to me whenever his pen is at a loss ; and he has done it, in this instance, as in many others, falsely and unjusthiably. Col BtrxxiN needs none of my assistance; and he never desires what he does not need. In his handbill I did no more for him thaa I would do for any other, when my service as printer are requested; and the cause avi the brain nvj.t he poorly bottomed, when the subject maUcr is neglected to make room for suspicions and abuse of the writer. It is a contemptible resort of a little mind, unworthy the character of any man who aspire to be one of the " Conscript Fathers" of the state But to show the absurd injustice as well as crueltv of the onduct of Mr. Eicing towards me, it is notorious to all our cit'zens, not even I'xcepting hhue!j that, during all the canvassing for months previous to the election, I neither wrote nor printed, nor said nor sung one syllable against him, in any mannei to influence the vote of one individual, until the Saturday previous to the polling ; and then, I was instigated by considerations which, if rightly acted on, could not have operated against him. But it appears to be his peculiar misfortune always to bar conciliation, to breed ruptures, and to rend asunder, when himself is concerned, without reflection, and without torethought, the strongest cords of friendship; and I am informed, as a proof of this, that he will soon be sufficiently occupied by his attention to Col. Buxtin. As it is, he may take his course I have long wished to be divested of all concern with him. I have uniformly treated him honorably, even when most bitterly as tiled, and he has never reciprocated one feeling or manly sentiment TTeappe trs to be incapable or i . thin : b it the ideas of power and subjection, which arc

'plie otiier genius who falls fovl on me, does it through the medium of the Corydon paper : The Horse, the Fox,$ the humbic-bce, Were still at odds, being but tnree ; Until the Goose came out of the door, And stayed the odds by making lour ! He is no less a personage than tne lion. James Ralph Erskine Croouc, Pi is ding Judge cf the Four ih Judicial Circuit vj Indiana, who accuses me of promise-breaking, bribery, and fear. The facts of his case arc these :- When I was at Princeton some time ago, he showed me part of a replication he was preparing to Gen. Leans. Sick and tired as I was of this needless controversy, I was not more so than the readers of the Centinel; yet I could not withstand his piteous entreaties to give it publication I promised to obiige him, on condition that it should be his last request of the kind. But on my return, measuring his manuscriot, I found it wouli occupy every tittle of my little sheet, even to the driving out of many advertisements; I then resolved to comply with the wishes of every disinterested subscriber, and crowd the p iper with no more such uninteresting stuff ; and to return him his manuscript, with this eiiectual apology. I accordingly did so, and heard no more of him or his opinions until mail-day last, when I was greeted with his preface to 3Ir. Brandon. These are the facts, and every editor, at least, will excuse me: these are the only facts, and every impartial reader can make my apology. I would advise this tl learned Judge " when he next unmuzzles his wisdom, to use a little wit with his petulance, and be careful to look before he losps from the bench, and exposes himself as a fair target for the sliai't of every archer. I wish him no harm, but must candidly ted hiui I am ucai v of him, and would not Le troubled b him. Let him keep his distance, and he will not be the loser ; but if he comos too near me with his braying, I will ship his lion's skin from his shoulder, so that every protuberance of his person shall bens visible as the obliquity of his mind. Yet I was his friend as a stranger, and am unwilling that better acquaintance shouid force me to act as his enemv.
