The paper marked A. is a copy of a communication to the Stute Bank, and the reply thereto ; and that marked B. is a copy of a circular addressed to the non-specie paying Banks, with their answers, Brookville excepted, as no reply has been received from the Directors of that Branch Bank.

In affording the situation of the Branches, separately and distinctly, the intormation will be more readily comprehended, and for the want of which, during the last winter's session, some inconvenience was experienced. Fully aware that the capital employed by citizens of adjoining ttiUcs, upoa whom we chielly depend for
i our imports, enables them to regulate the $ value of bank paper, and of demanding a $ discount upon its reception, even greater than the real difference of exchange t should produce ; yet the suspension of f specie payments on the part of our banks, affords the power of compelling us to bus-. tain a commerce so disadvantageous to the community.
