JAMES MONROE, PRESIDkNT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA j To all and singular tj whom these presents shall come, (rreetingi Whereas, a Treaty between the Uni ted States of America, and the tribe of Kickapoos of tiie Vermilion, was made and concluded, at Fort Harrison, on the thirtieth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight ami nine teen, by a Commissioner cm' the part of the said United State?, and certain Chiefs, Warriors, and head men, of the tribe aforesaid, on the prt and in behalf ef the eaid tribe; which Treaty is in the words following, to wit A treatv made and concluded hv Bin jamin Parke, a commissioner n the part of the United States. of America, of the one part, and the Chiefs, Warriers. and head men, of the Tribe of Rickapoos of the Vermillion, of the other part. Article 1. The Chiefs Warriors, and head men, of .he said tribe, aree to cede and hereby relinquish to the United States, al! the lands which the sai.l tribe, lias heretofore possessed, or which t'tev may rightfully claim, on the W abash river or ar:y-cf its waters. Article 2 And to the end that the United States may he enabled tc Kit with the other Indian tribes a boundary between their respective claims, the Chief ?, Warriors, and head men, of the said tribe, do hereby declare, that their rightful claim is'as follows, viz: beginning at the north west corner oftha Vincennes tract; thence, westwardly, by the boundary established by a treaty , with the Piankeshaws on the thirtieth "day of December, eighteen hundred and five, to the dividing; "ridge between the waters of the Kmbarras and the Li-'tle Wabash; thence, by the said ridge, to the source of the Vermilion rive.-; thence, by the same ridge, to the head of Pine v creek : thence, by the said creek, to the Wabash river ; thence, by the said rier, trtthe mouth of the Vermilion river; and thence, bv the Vermilion and the boun dary heretofore c tablished, to the place t ot beirinninr Article 3 The said Chiefs, and War riors, and head men, of the said tribe, agree to relinquish, and thev do hereoy exonerate and discharge the U. States from the annuity of 1000 dollars, to T-hich they are inny entitled.
