J,Iis?owi.'lt appears by many ac

counts from Missouri, that the friends of slavery there are very apprehensive that the Convention for the formation of the new constitution, will contain a majcrity cf members opposed to its extension. Should this be the case, which we think at least is possible, the decided enemies of slavery on all grounds, and the friends c t.rl.ial and lo-nl pmancination, will

have double cause for rejoicing; while, the slaveholders will have no cause to complain, if they arc not molested iu the possession of what the laws have constituted their property. This event will also have a weighty effect on any future deliberation cf Congress on the question: as it will cause many future

legislators to believe that a part, howXr clamorous, is not the whole : and

that there is a still, small voice in the bosoms of men, that often will sooner or later be heard, in spite of the boisterous
