Affairs with Spain.

Washington, March 9.

Our Spanish affairs, after Ijing dormant surgents.

(rnUr received ' in London, are to the 7th or January. T'ne Madrid dates received in Paris 'are to the loth, but it does not appear how late the advice were from Cadiz. It appears, however, to be believed both in France

and Lowland, that Cadiz is taken by the in-

for some months, are suddenly revived ; the

committee cf foreign affairs in the home of representatives have to -day recommended, or reported, a bill, authorising the president, if he deem it expedient, to occupy the Florida At the same time, a message 19 sent by the president to the two houses of congress, containing the latest dispatches from Mr. Forsyth, together with a further correspondence between him and the Spanish secretary of state. Mr. Forsyth considers himself out of Favor at Madrid ; insinuates that the issue or his negotiation is very dubious ; and that i. dividuals, who cant little for the welfare of Spain in comparison with their own interest, are taking measures to be prepared with commissions to privateer on our trade, should a rupture between the two countries happen. On the 15th Oct. Mr. Forsyth sent a note to the Duke San Fernando, requesting copies of the grants of land in Florida to the Duke of Alagon, .the Count Peunon Rostro, and Mr. Vargas On the same date the Duke San Fernando replied, that Mr. Forsyth's request being submitted to the king, his majesty has declared that it is not possible for him to comply, without being ivatiting to what is due to his dignity, as he conceives his word alone m the matter of these grants, is, in addition to their publicity, the most authentic certificate that can or ought to be given. On the 16th Oct. Mr. Forsyth, in a note to the Duke San Fernando : " I am not aware that the royal word has been given in this business, the grants and would now request to

On the 18th Oct. Mr. Forsyth sent are monstrance to the Duke San Fernando, rcla
