ttmmir: THE CENTINEL.

VINCENNES, OCT. 2, 1319. The late treaty for the cession of the Vloridas, and the adjustment of accounts between Spain and this country, though not perfectly satisfactory, has been cheerfully acquiesced in by the people of the United States. They were tired of a long and vexatious nrociation, and their peaceful habits preferred almost any thing to war, but national dishonor. Their credit has been preserved by the treaty, and, though the settlement of boundaries has not exactly met their wishes, they are reconciled to the disappointment in not obtaining more, by the consideration that they have" at last "peaceabl v obtained so much. The delay in the ratification of the treaty lia3 caused much speculation among politicians. The following extract from a Washington City paper, coining from the focus to which foreign information is first directed, will perhaps convey to our readers as correct reflections upon the present state of affairs.
