Commencement Exercises at Brookville iitmege. The Commencement Exercises this week at Brookville College were very largely attended, not only by our own people, but by friends from a distance, and have proved highly cred liable, as usual, to that institution. On Sab tath morning the Annual Sermon was preachti to a full house by Rev. E. L. Dolph of Shelwille a good, plain, religious sermon, from the text, "Seek first the kingdom of God and lis righteousness, and all these things shall be tided." An interesting babbatn bchool meeting was held in the afternoon. In the evening Rev. Prof. Harrison delivered tn able address to a large audience, on the Importance of Acquiring Knowledge, characterizing his theme in a most comprehensive review of universal nature a grand eulogy upon wisdom in its various developments. It is utterly impossible to do justice to the speak, tr in attempting to give a report of this masterpiece of learned eloquence, abouuding with forcible hits at the vices and follies of the age. It could be appreciated only by being attenVielj heard. The examinations of classes commenced at 9 o'clock on Monday morning and continued throughout Monday and Tuesday and also p to Wednesday noon. As usual a this institution, these examinations were thorough and satisfactory. The following was the order Monday Mental Arithmetic, Geography, Geometry, Rhetoric and Latin. Tuescaj Algebra, English Grammar, Written Arithmetic, Trigonometry and Chemistry. Wednesday Latin, Greek and Geology. On Monday evening the Preparatory Department gave an Exhibition which was atuudtd by another overflowing house.' The little folks acquitted themselves nobly, accordding to the universal verdict. This Department has already obtained the reputation of kin;; a highly interesting feature of the College, and it lost none of that reputation on Mouday night. With declamations, essays, dialogues, calisthenics, vocal and instrumental mukic, 4c, numerously interspersed in a most lively and entertaining manner, the result was that everybody came away greatly delighted. Kev. (jeo. L. Curtiss, of Counersville, delivered the Annual Address before the students ob Tuesday evening. Ilia subject was, "The Seven Sisges of Life and and their Respoumbiliiies." This lecture was cf sound, practical character, and impressively delivered. The Literary Exercises of the Collegia'e Department took place on Wednesday evenin?. The hour at which our paper goes to iress precludes the possibility of giving a report of these exercises.
