Tbe Counly Commissioners have ordered an election on the New Railroad question, to ie held on Saturday the 29th of July next. Bridges at Metamora. The Commissioners having relocated two bridges at Metamora one across the We6t Pork just below the present temporary structure over that stream, and another across Salt Creek immediately opposite, with a heavy and lengthy embankment connecting them it is understood that there will be a new letting for the work. It 's esiitr.ated that these two bridges will cost at least forty thousand dollars. Colter's Case. Judge Carter having decided last week that Capt. Colter cannot be admitted to bail as a n atter of rifiht murder in tbe second degree rot being a bailable offense, where the proof is evident and the presumption of guilt is ftrong, according to his decision the evidence isbeiiij heard this week on the application for bail, when the Court will determine whether be will be let to bail or not. Agricultural Society' Proceedings. Bbookyills, Ixd , Juki 3d, 1871. The Franklin County Agricultural Society met. Present the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a quorum of members. The annates of the. last meeting were read nd approved. Bill of Messrs. Suing k Kaiser for $ 1.75 presented and allowed. On motion, the Secretary was ordered to request Mr. James Seobey to refund to Mr. John Thompson the amount of premium allowed on best Pigs, as there was an error. On motion of F. It. A. Jeter, the President was appointed to adjust the difficulties with Mr. F. A. Walz with regard to rent of Fair Grounds.
On motion of Mr. Jenkins, Messrs. McClure and F. Berry were appointed to examine as to a title assumed by Mr. Carter in a portion of the Fair Grounds. Mr. Walz offered the following resolution, which was adopted: Resolved, That this Society has the right of access to and from the track of the Fair Grounds at all times. The President was appointed to confer with the parties who have rented the Grounds. No further business, and the Society ad journed. F. R. A. Jeter, Sec'y. Brooktille, June 3d, 1871. Board of Directors of the Franklin County Agricultural Society met. Present the President, Secretary and a quorum of the Board. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. The Treasurer was instructed to repair the fences, &.c. , of Fair Grounds, consulting meanwhile with members of the Board. Messrs. Roberts, Hockenberry and Jeter were appointed a committee to make preparation for a trial of Reapers and Mowers. Tbe Board adjourned. F. R. A JETER. Secretary. A Mass of Evidence. The case of Ross vs. Schneider has occupied the lime of the Court from Thursday until Tuesday evening five full days, we believe. The evidence occupies two hundred pages of legal cap a mass of manuscript testimony, truly. Messrs. Adams and Claypool for plain tiff, and Messrs. Bracken and Trussler for the defendant. Rope Manufactory. The Walton Brothers have just finished the erec'io'i of a Ropp Manufactory on the Mcf'arty lots situated at the West end of Grave Street, and have commenced operations in rnakitis ropes and twine. House Carpenters. The Proctor Brothers have done a fine job of work in the erection of Dr. Haymond's residence on Main street, just finished.
