Thus we art again admonithed, lie e also ready, for at such an hour as te think tiot the Son of Man Cometh." The deceased wis bora and raised in Franklin County, Ind., from which she with her husband removed two years ago last April to tho place cf her decease. ?he was a long and patient sufferer from that dread disease. Consumption, but was retuar'sibly patieut aud resigned under all her afCicticns. llavitig livid unto God, she felt in all her sickness that biueuh His promise was her everlasting refuse, th- was convinced that her disease was of such a nature that it was impossible for her to get well; tut the approach ef the Death Angel occasioned no fear ner alarm nor interrupted her abiding faith. On being asked by friends in regard to her luture prespect, she would answer, "All is well ; all is well ; I know In whom I have trusted ; I am not afraid to die. As to my afflictions," said he, "1 must not murmur; for Qod is good ; He does all things for the best; I am resigned to His will. But my dear littlo chit- ; dren 1 how can I part with them? how can I give J them up? t desire to live for their sakes, and for theirs alone; but I cannot, and I com nit them and my companion to my Ue&venly Father and the prayets of a mother's love." Thus she gently fell asleep in Jesus ; thus she closed her eyes en all upon earth, to open them amid tha congregation of angels, the rejoiciog of saints, and tbe home of the blest. Drar Mother, thou art gone ; Thy vacant chair left ; Tby children for thee mourn ; Ihy companion is bereft. Our sister is gone, and we are left to mourar but notes those having no hope. In her memory we are reminded of the humble Christian, the loving mother, the affectionate companion, the kind friend. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, having joined it some fifteen years ago at Mt. Carmel, Ind., and was ever after devotedly attached te the eh arch of her choice. Being naturally reserved and of an unassuming disposition, homo and its surroundings and the happiness and eomfort ef her family were her chief enjoyment. Tier funeral was preached by Rev. James Gilchrist, her former pastor, and under whose ministry she joined the eh arch. She had endeared herself to many in hei new, heme, as was evinced hy the large concourse of friends and neighbors who attended her funeral. Elixa, thou art goae to rest; Thire is an early tomb; But Jesus summoned you away ; Thy Savior called tbee home. Good night ! we will see yea in the morning. . T. Davesfobt. Good-By, Saengerfest. The Germms closed the grand Saengerfest at Short's Grove Sunday. Fortunate in their procession, fortunate io their concerts, fortunate in the good will and co operation of our people, and fortunate to the la9t in three of the best speech makers for such an occasion that could be procured and they of our own city there is no reason why they ehould not all feel amply satisfied with the whole performance. Dm. Lilienthal and Wise, and Judge Stallo were the orators at the prove. Dr. Lilienthal, as President of tha fesiiVii!, "did" the polite in handsoaie style. Anions other nice things lie said: Gentlemen, no jealousy marred the harmony that prevailed from the beginning. If there was any rivalry between Germans and Americans, it was only the zenl and ardor that inspired all with the uestion: Who can do the most for the success oT the festival? Every Chairman, assisted by his officers and committee, vied to outdo the others, and to their labor, their energy, their faithfulness, we owe the tuccess of our festival. Our citizens thank them, each and all, for the good they have done our city,. They glory in the fact that we have so many noble, public-spirited and disinterested men in our midtt. They are an honor to our community, and find the reward they have labored for in the success of the Festival closing this day." Dr. Wise closed a pretty speech in tbe following eloquent passage: "My country is but a province of the great Germanic Empire, which although still, disunited, we hope aud kn-.xT.will be united finally into one great Germin E;U pire. Cheers. Therefore, on the pinions of the wind I send this kiss to the land, the dear land of my birth. I feel a reverence for the land of my birth, but young, energetic, free and great is the laud of my adoption, Rod 1 love it with its gre.it strides onward, its towering mountains, brotJ, swift streams, and its thundering cataracts, the land in which Roger Williams and Abraham Lincoln are buried, and greater to my mind than the nations made illustrious by the history of three thousand years. But it is a land and no more than a land; it is a country and no more than a country, and every country is no more th:in a province iu the great latherhind of humanity." Cincinnati Tines. Ru-hville Republican. It is a little strange that the Democrats should want to start a reform increment in Fayette county where the county expenses are only one filth as great as they are in Frannklin county.
