tletaraora Items. Died March 7th, 1S70, Mr. Orville Gordon of this place, uf disesse of the heart, in ths sixtyfifth year of his aire. Orvil'e Gordon was born near Lexington, Ky., in thot month of June, 1305, and with his father emigrated to Oiis State in the year 1S1 1 , havirg resided in this community about firy-nine years. At the time of his death he was attending a school meeting in this place, called for the purpose of considering the propriety of building new school-house or to erect an addition to the present one. Tse subject was discussed by different parties with some earnestness, and during the discission it was apparent that Mr. Gordon was laboring under some excitement. He had spokea twice, and on taking his seat the

second time it was noticed that he fell a little j forward and sank into the seat. Assistance was ! rendered at onco by Dr. Davis of New Trenton ; and Dr. Conner of this place, and every possible j effort was rr.ade to restore life: but he sank into j the arras of death as quietly and peacefully asj. the sun sinks beneath the M'estern horizon not a j

Harrison, Ohio, March 14, 1876. Lines On the death of little Harry, son of Dr. A. S. and Anna Remy. Dear Cousins, the Angel of Death Has taken your darling away, But pnre as snow are the little robes Which he wears in Heaven to-day. How transient was his little life, How short his stay below: Naught of this world's care or sorrow, Was it e'er his lot to kniw. They laid his precious littis form To rest 'ne-th the damp cold sod, But his pure little spirit had gone To dwell at the right hand of God. Although it caused you bitter grief, With your little one te part; In U is word is a precious balm, To bind up the bleeding heart. When you felt that your darling must go, And cross over the dark rolling tide, Yon gently bore him in your arms. Even down to the broad river's side. But a sweet thought it must be to you, That he waits on the other shore, And when you cross the mystic stream You may clasp him to part no more. Y'on will not grieve fir your little one, If one earnest thought you give To the precious blood on Calvary shed, That it and you might live. This cr.iss is great for you to bear, But fel you've a victory won, Y'hon yoa can, like Jesus, say, "Not my will, but Thine be done." nis little grave should -neve? ba A place tor bitter tears; -But lot his memory cherished be, Through xany coming yers; And let it be yonrearnest aim, When time shall be no more You may meet again your angel babe
