Shelby County Resolutions. Tho following preamble and resolutions wer unanimously adopted at a recent Republican meeting in Shelby Couuty: Whereas, We believe it our duty as Republicans having nothing but the unity, welfare and success of the Republican party in view, t declare that in our opinion success is no longer possible in this, tie Fourth Congressional District, with the Hon. O. W. Julian as our Congressional candidate; and, Whereas, The course pursued by him, and the language used in his card tn the people of this District, is only calculated to cause ill feeling and division ia th party and thereby insure certain defeat; therefore Resolved, That in order to allay all strife, and to bring unity into the Republican party of this Congressional Bistriet, and to make success certain, we are unani mously in favor of the nomination of the Hon. J. M. Wilson, as our standard bearer in the approaching congressional contest. Resolved, That we deem it right and proper under the circumstances to make this announcement at this time, believing as we d-i that a large majority of the Republican party of the District concur in the sentiment hersin expressed. We ask their hearty co-operation to the end that strife, discord and divisions may cease to trouble the politics of the District, and that peace, good will and harmony may once more abound.
For the Indiana American. A Dream. summer evening, much troubled in One mild mind From scanning "minutely the ill? of mankind, When grief was fast driving my hopes to despair, I gave way to sleep in the midst of my care. Whilst slumbering, I thought myself wafted above, And, blessed with perfection in friendship and love, I mingled with groups of the heavenly throng, And joined thn i a eioimt t'jctv t?lysian sen if. This charming communion with angels of light G avc strength to my mind and extended my sight, I sa w the great record of human events, And, aided by heaven, I read its contents. There is a division in the Fourth (Indians) District. This has existed for several years. Speaking in the interests of the Republican party, we expressed the hope that the difficulties which has frittered away the Republican strength of that naturally strong Radical district, would be removed, and to this end we advised the withdrawal of Hon. George W. Julian from the contest. We have received and printed several articles in reply to this suggestion; we have also carefully read all that has been printed in the local papers on both sides of the question, and still, looking at the matter from a standpoint whollv disinterested so far as candidates are concerned, it is our opinion that it is not possible to unite th3 party upon Mr. Julian, and that therefore the bttershould withdraw. We have no cause of euarrel with Mr. Juliai), and we Cannot be drawn into a quarrel with him. As a Republican he has been true to his principles, and if wc lived in the district and fcs were a candidate we should vote for him: but we have
