Indian Summer. Just after the death of the flowers. And before tbe; are buried in snow, There comes a festival season, When nature is all aglow Aglew with a mystical splendor That rivals the beauties of springAglow with a beauty more tender Than aught which fair Summer would briag. Some spirit akin to the rainbow Then borrows its magical dyes. And mantles the far-spreading landscape In hues that bewilder the eyes. The Sun from its cloud-pillowed chamber Smiles soft on a vision so gay, And dreams that his favorite children, The Flowers, have not yet passed away. There's a luminous mist on the mountains, A light, azure haze in the air, As if angels, while heavenward soaring, Had left their bright robes floating there;
The breeze is so soft, so caressing, It seems a mute token of love, And floats to tho heart like a blessing From some happy spirit above. These days, so serene and so charming, Awaken a dreamy delight j A tremulous, tearful enjoyment, Like soft strains of music at night; We know they're fading and fleeting. That quickly, too quickly, they'll end, Ad we watch them with a yearning affection, As at parting we watch a dear friend. Oh I beautiful Indian Summer 1 Thou favorite child of the year, ' Thou darling whom Nature enriches ' With gifts and adornments so dear! ' How fain would we woo thee to linger - 1 On mountain and meidow awhile, ' For our hearts, like the sweet haunts of Nature, Rejoice and grow ycung in thy smile. Kot alone on the sad fields of Autumn Dost thou a lost brightness restore, Eat thou bricgest a world-weary Epirit
oweetareams or. its cailunood once more; Thy loveliness fills us with memories Of all that was brightest and best Thy peace and serenity offer A foretaste of heavenlj rest.

the former. " It is well, therefore, that Agricultural Boards are having an eye to reform in this matter. It would be well, in my opinion, if that danciDg pavilion eould be excused from o prominent a place on our ground. There is nothing comely about its exterior, neither musical about its music, nor do I think the respectable portion of the community should be asked to give it a show of respectability by permitting it to stand so prominently in the foreground even to crowding reaping-machines and other agricultural machinery in the back-ground. In this one thing the Board makes its worst mistake year after year. In saying that this is the worst mistake, I presume
ttiat toe wiiiskey sold on the ground was done without the knowledge or authority of the Board. -' Taking the Fair all in all, and considering that a large part of the County is cutting loose from the centre, there is reason for congratulation, and the friends of progress 1 in the Art of Agriculture and of Manufactures should already begin to prepare that the next one shall still be better, and more thoroughly purged of objectionable features. $12,000 of the Bogus Currency Captured. The examination of Lyle S. Levy and Mrs. Rittttihouse, before United States Commissioner Kimball, yesterday, developed some ttartling facts connected wiih the manufacture and sale of counterfeit United States Treasury notes. From time to time large quantities of counterfeit money have been parsed uj on the unsuspecting, but in most of the cases wbere detection followed, it was only the passer and not the maker tbat was punished. Thus the stock has not been decreas

being built from North Vernon to Jeffersonville.
This is abroad giuge, but will probably be changed, in a short time, to a narrow one. This leaves a link between Newcastle and North Vernon, about 66 miles in length, to be built, which will perfect the first air line as originally projected. A large meeting of citizens of the several counties along this line was held at the offce of the Secretary of State, yesterday, at which articles of association were perfected, which will be filed in a day or two, and the following Board cf Directors ebcied: Jennings County Col. oineers of the Government could catture it. For
a year past the indications have been that money of this kind was made in the West, and Col. ll.O. Whitely, the Chief of the Secret Service Division of the Treasury Department, has selected his best agents to ascertain who manufactured the ctuft", as well as those whi put it in circulation, and their efforts have been crowned with complete success. On the 2d of this month Mr. T.lward V. Tratt, of New York, one of the most reliable Special Agents of the Secret Service Division cf the Treasury Department, left Washington for the V est, with instructions to work up the gar.gs of counterfeiters ia this State, and, if possible, bring theui to justice. He had some information at starting, as to who the parties were, and, therefore, was not proceeding entirely in the dirk, and yet was laboring under the disadvantage ot being knowa bj many cf the villains his duty required him to entrap. L'pon his arrival at Cincinnati, be se'ected as his assistant M r. G. A. Colcher, who is wsll-. nown in connection with the Police fotce of that city. The informant to tue department was Mr. P., of Osgood, Kipley county, the place of residence of the counterfeiters. It was necessary, therefore, lor Mr. Pratt to see hits, and for tear that he might be known, be sent M r. Coicber to Osgood to reconnoitre tho ground, and bring Mr. P. to Cincinnati, wbere the .lan of operations might be fully developed. M r. hostility of the County Con; aiissioners to wards the Eastern portion of our County,
L wish only to add that all the produce of the farmers of that section fchould I ring a higher price in Brookville than either in Oxford or Uarrilton, because Brookville
has easier access to tide-wa'er or Kuroiejo markets than cither Oxford or Hamilton, and consequently there should he, and is, in fact, this greater inducement for capitalists to er-ct manufactories of ail kinds at Urookvillc, if ;hey could get the raw material from the farmers. And they could offer the strongest inducements to farmers to bring produce there, if thev
