More than this, ia tbe great Trork of reconstruction, in whose interest all that we hate expended, and all that we hate aacri ficel have been staked, we ate tust at etcry step by the evil spirit that inspired treason to arm itself to take the Nation' life. Bat the work of reconstruction goes Irately on, notwithstanding the constant - impediments thrown in its way by the apostate and rebels who throng in legions . against it,- I believe that before the firft of April, Alabama will havo taken ber old place lesido the altar of the Nation. To the eye of faith the regenerated State approaches. We can almost hear the sound of her slogan, on the South wind, as she draws near. We can almost aee th Genius of Freedom, like "jeeuod day tiptoe on the misty mountain top' guiding her to her place beneath the dome of the Capitol, to renew her fealty and eoasecrate her flag. Other States will follow in her path, nd through and over all opposition will loyalty and liberty be made the rule, wherever our boundaries extend. After 11 our toils, all our losses, and all our sorrows, we cannot fail. Hoping you may hare grand and en täusiaatio Convention, I remain your most obedient servant, Joiin Codcrm. Thrilling speeches were then made by Hon. Henry 8. Lane and Col. II. W. Thompson., After supper, Governor' Baker was Introduced, who was received with very great enthusiasm, and addressed the Convention in a lengthy argumentative peech which we cannot find room for this week. Speeches were also made by Gen. Ebeoezer Dumont, Judge Hughes, Governor punning and IIoo. D. C, Sranham. The following resolutions were adopted: Retoked, that tho earnest thanks of this Convention be tendered to 31 r. J. T. Wright, the late Chairman of the State Central Committee, for the able and disinterested manner in which he discharged his difficult duties. JlttoUvJ, That the proceedings of this Convention, together with the able arguments of üoveruor Baker and the several epeeche of the occasion, be published in

We invite attention to tbe communication of Mrs. Minerva Clark, Matron of the Poor Asylum, and cheerfully give it a place in our columns. It is admitted that good grounds of complaint against the Poor Asylum of a most disgraceful character have existed, and we are pleased to learn that under the administration of Mr. and Mrs. Clark a thorough. revolution is beieg wrought to tbe advantage of its inmates and the credit of the County. It is due t tbem that the whole eulject have a thorough investigation, and we hope those io authority will not shrink from it, let it hit and expose who it may. Judge John S. Held. The Satxner Bond Case.-
This important, case, known (in our Slate Reports,' Id the newst ap'eri and among" politicians as the Parries case, was again decided by Judge Wilson on Friday of last week. The case as made before bi to oa the second trial was not essentially different from that on firtt trial , In deciding the cats the Judge atated that his opinion when the case was first tried was well known to be very decided, and although the Supreme Court had reversed his deciaion, still be had never seen anything to change his opinion as to what the law was. lie then examined the opinion of the Supreme Court, and showed that they had decided the case in favor of the defendants on two grounds, one of which in a subsequent cm tbty had reversed, bot the other ground still remained unreversed; and although be bad no doubt that when the case came again before them ibey would speedily reverse thst, still until it wss reverted by tbetn he must be governed by it and decide the case in favor of the defendants. The case will be again taken to the Supreme Court, as we are informed be Messrs. Uullaod & BiuLley, Attorneys for the State. Col. Farqnhar at Richmond. Col. Farqubar spoke in itichmond, Warns County, on Monday nlgbt of lau week, on the political questions of the daj. The True liepublican of that place says of him: "He is a fluent speaker, and appears to be a very agreeable gentleman." The Palladium says: "His speech was souud common 'sense, eloqusnt and argumentative, and he U emphatically on of our strongest Kejmblrce.ii orator. We were sorry the audience was not Urger, and that all our cilixens were nut present to listen to the convincing truths he oU'wtei." Jndge of Common Pleas Court. It is now understood that a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for ths Sixth Judicial District of Indiana is lo be elected this Fall, Judge Kibbey having been elected to 11 a vacancy expiring this Fall.
