Detention of Trains. The past week has been unusually prolific of detention of trains on the Valley Kailroad, ceased principally by cara flying the track. We hear of tbe train being detained at Slackwater on account of the heavy rains washing the gravel on to the track, cars running off the track below New Trenton, cars off Dear Colter's, care off above Laurel, and cara off at Cambridge City. Nobody badly hurt, however, in either case. The entire change of programme, caused by tbe recent new arrangement, is not yet working well; but everything will be in proper condition before long, no doubt. It lakes a little time totffect so im

As the Friday evening train was approaching the station at New Trenton, by eome accident the Height cr and one of the passenger cars flew the track and rolled down the embankment into the bed of the old Canal. The hank was about five or six feel high, and although the pa.senger car was well filled with passengeri, all escaped without serious injury. Tbe accident ia no doubt attributable to the fact that tbe rat's lad not been eecurelypiked since the track waa widened to suit the compromise cars, and the rupid movement of tbe train caused a spreading of the (ails.
