Hon. J. EL Farqahar and lady left on the morning train on last Wednesday on an excursion to Wisconsin and the Far West' County Institute. TL School Examiner requests na to state ' that the time for the holding of a Coooty Instituts is jet undetermined, owing to & failure to obtain Lecturers. Land Sale, , Mr. Samuel McCready, of Bloomirg; Grore Township, has soli his farm contain 120 acres, to Messrs. G. & S. Loper, of Fairfield, for $55 per a era. Salea of Town Property. Mr. Samuel Masters sold his house and lot in FairEeld to Mr. Basaett for fGOO. Mr. Masters has purchased a farm in Boone County, Ind., and designs removing to it soon. - Mr. S. Loper has sold his .dwelling house and lot and his store-bouse in Fairfield to Mr. & McCreadj for $2,000. Mr. C R. Cory sold a house and lot in Fairfield to Mr. S. Loper for $600. Fire In Blooming Or ore. A fire occurred in Blooming Grove on last Monday afternoon, which for a time threatened to destroy a cousiderable portion of the town. Some little girls out plajiog took fire into Mr Kelson Truster's ham and ignited söme .Sax. In a few minutes the building was in flames, which, with its contents, was entirely con sumed. A horse, saddle and bridle, and several toes of hay, the latter the property of Mr Thomas Genn, were lost Several other buildings caught fire, but no particular damage was done. MMisieeiSBaBW" - The Whirlwind. We have learned from Mr. Ezeliel Collett some further particulars in reference to the whirlwind that plajed such havoc on bis premises on Tuesday of last week. It came unheralded, aud lasted but a few moments. A terrible crash was heard, and at once it was found that the roof of the dwelling house was gone, aid everything in confusion. Heds were whirled ont of the rooms, furniture demolished, apple trees wrenched out of the earth by the roots, fences prostrated, and genetal wreck and ruin spread over a track of one-eighth of a mile in width. We do not hear of it west of . Mr. Collett's farm, and on reaching the hills astof his lands it arose and passed above (hem. As an evidence of the force of tbe wind, wa mention the fact that a stove-p'ate, a Hal piece of iron of considerable Weight, lying ' Mal upon the earth, was lifted up and carried juite a distance, Mr. Collett estimates his 2os at between two and three thousand dollars. Mrs.' Prudence Thomas, while preparing supper, was accident ally shot by her son James, a lad of about ten years. He was in an adjoining room handling a shot-gun, which happened to be loaded. The gun went off, the main load barely missing Mrs. T., while some twenty-five or thirty shot atruck her in the face and breast. She is now lying in a very critical condition, but some hopes are entertained of her recovery. Her Jiisband, John Thomas, was near by her when t'le god exploded, and be received a shot In 4le shoulder. Parents should take warning and not allow their children to handle firearms. Bey. J. W.
