W woutd no. offici-iu-ly no dt-ruke to represent tbe whole proAlavery pwty; bat, on this occasion, when every mm is required At his post to protect his family, friends and property from th- attack', of bands ol mtdaikt abolition assassin, it it imposatble U call a general meeting of our party. The time haa arrived when prompt action it required, and the interior uf Knas can easily be supplied from toe various points in tbe above named ooanties, they embracing our whole front on the Missouri river. The pro-alvery prty U the only one in Kansas which pretend to upbold the Government or abide by UK laws. Our party from tbe beginning baa sought to maks Kansas a slave slate only by legal means. we have been slandered and vilhfied almost beyond endurance, yet we have not reaoated to violence but steadily pursued tbe law for the aceompliabiag of our objects, believing it tbe only proper course and tbe party is still of tbe same opinion. Twice have we been called out in large numbers to aid the officers in the execution of the laws, and under ery aggravating circumstances, when, if oar people had been willing to trampie ander foot the laws as our enemies do, we were in a condition to wage a war of extermination against all the enemies of tbe pro-slavery party in Kansas. Yet we controled ourselves, our enemies promising in future to obey the lawa. Notwithstanding the many falsehoods circulated by the abolitionists in and out of Kansas Territory, the day never has been that we were not able, legally and f lirly, to out vote them; and to day, if all restraints and obligations to support the Government and abide Sy the laws were thrown off. and open war declared between the Pro Slavery and alt their ptrl'es in tbe Territory, we could in leas 'ban A month rid ourselves of our last enemy, without the aid of A single outsider. Let not these declarations, however, (although true to the letter) prevent anyone from coming to Knuts, whe intends to become a citiaen of Kansas, for we awed ail that will come; and re member that, in October next oar representatives to the Legislature will be elected and our enemies will mike a desperate struggle. Bring your slaves with you. They are safe here. Abolitionists cannot steal them and gel them oat of Kansas. Wo hare proclaimed to the world, thai we recognised the principles ot the Kansas Bill as io, and right, ard Although we preferred Kansas being ma le a Xegro Slave Stute, j et, we never dreamed of making it so by the aid of bowie-knives, revolvers, and Sharp' Rifles, until we were threatened to be driven out of the Territory by a band of hired abolitionists, bought up and sent here (o control oar elections, and steal oar slaves and those of our friends in adjoining Stales. These threats made us prepare ourselves for whatever issue might be presented. We are still ready and intend to continue so, if our friends from abroad stand by and sustain as. We are now in a condition th;it requires constant vigilance day and night. Our people are poor and their labor is their capital deprived them of that, which we are now compelled to do, and they must be supported from nbroad, or give up the cause of the South. ThNorlhern abolitionists can raise mil lions of dollars, and station armed bands of fanatics throughout the Ter ritory, and support them in order to deprive Southern men of their consti tunonal rights. We address this to our friends only for the purpose of l"t ting them know our true condition an oar wants. We know that our call will meet a ready, willing and liberal response. Since we left Lawrence, on the day of its surrender and humilia tion, the free State men having learn ed, we suppose, by the aid of Howard anu Sherman, of the Longressio.a Committee of Investigation, that our laws were all unconstitutional and void. and would be so declared by Congress they have begun a regular system of midnight assassinations roberries, and the whole catalogue'of crime, wherever they can find unprotected men, women And children. Hence tbe absolute necessity of our people, everywhere, being constantly ready for any emeTzeney : and in order to be thus, we need money, horses, pro visions and ammunition, hut with the money, we perhaps can purchase all we need cheaper than otr frienda can supply us, ezeept in Missouri. From twenty to thirty of onr people have recently fallen by the hands ot fanatical aooiiuomai without soy pretended excus, except that it was known they believed South era people bad equal rights with North ern. in the territories. They are being hunted up and brjojht to justice, and the blood or our slam people and the tears of their widows and orehaas will continue to cry aloud for vengeance, until the last aseaaein and trsiter is brought to just ce. Their cry will not be in vain. W profeas to be s law abiding p ple and we practice what w proless, but when the law ceases to a (Tor J protection, snd revolution, insurrection, and rebellion ia foreed upon us, we expect to be ready to meet that teaue too. Freed Jm of the Palpit The Freedom of thu Pu'pu that is. the right f clergymen to discuss in their regular ministrations such topics aa id -y believe vital to the moral aanity and well-being of their In itrers is one of the mot important question debated in our day. Let us binfl . consider it: That clergymen should "preach the Goepel' is vehemently insisted on one side, and not denid on the other. But what is "preaching tbe Go pel?" When John the B iptist atd to King Herod, "It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother'a wile," d.d he stray from the line of his duty as a divine messenger into "preaching politics?" Ve think not. Suppose a Christian pastor lo-l iv were to find among his flock a thrifty. shrewd, influential, far-seeming in in, who claims-' lo be thu baaJttotl of two wives and maintained that, under the peculiar circumstance of his case, he lid right to take a second wife !iitirst being a helpless invalid would it be wron.r in that pastor to discipline that bigamist, and drive him either out of the church or into decency? But suppose the law of the land permitted and sanctioned bigamy, would 'hat excuse the professedly Christian bigamist, or any wise affect thu pastors duty? Who says yes? Every act is either right or wrong, permitted or forbidden, in the light ol God's law. Of tint law, the Christian pulpit is the expositor. M iny acts permitted by our civil law-; are forbidden by the divine. The laxity of ihe former perhaps wise and politic, for the State does not attempt to punish every injurious act in no manner requires a corresponding lax ily in the application of the latter, but' rather the contrary. Our State formerly did not punisli seduction nor adultery as such. No it does, or tries to. Wa it any less the duty of clergymen to denounce and reprobate those offenses formerly than it now is? We aee no solid ground on which the Pulpit can stand but that of a faithful, fearless, unsparing testimony against every kind of iniquity, wheih er condemned by the State or not whether chroni: or c.tsu il. corporate r personal, common or peculiar. Il his be not the true ground, who will say what is? If a clergy nan may wink at certain iniquities bee -use they hva long passed unquestioned, or are tolerated by tlw Slate, or are upheld and committed by respectable people. we apprehend the Church will soon become a mere cloak f-r cherished nd conveoieotMn, with no more mr I power or saving race in America han it exhibi)? in Abysinia. Ot course, the pasior who holds it his duty to assail every form or ebedt of mora evil will somet mes err, and Hack as wronir that which is r;allv i-'ht. He is not infallible, and will denounce jfhere he should forbear, or perhaps even commend. Hut what hen? Is stagr.ation preferable to pro gress the calm of despotism to the agitation of liberty? Russia and her sister church in Turkey furnishes the fairestexample of a Christianity which renounces all right to revise or scruti nize acts which have the sanction uf the civil power. 'I hold hat Politics and Religion should be kept entirely distinct," is a current maxim, which we have heard uttered even in Congressional debate. We hold, on the contrary, that a man's Religion and Politics must both be radically unsound wh n he wishes to ket p them at aruü length from each tlier. If a man have any gen une t-iigion, his Politics will be apt to low it; if his Politics ate what they should be, he will not shrink from bringing ihem to the test of Religion. We wish every clergyman in the and would, at least once a year, preach a sermon on the Moral Aspects of the Political, Social, and Kconomi cal questions from lime to time ngil ited in the country. Lloublless, much prejudice, ignor .nee, misinformation, narrowness of views and conformitr to I cal sentiment, would be evinced in n portion of these sermons, but their general effect would be good. The fact that they were to l-e preached would compel politicians, in laying their plans and making up their issues, to consider and respect thu religious and moral element, which too many of them now utterly ignore. It would cause devout citizens to consider more thoroughly than now that they have a country to -erve and cherish as well as souls to save. In short, we hold that Religion most beneficent which does not cloak fashionable iniquity under an affectation of avoiding Politics, and those Politics most worthy of acceptance which court and do not deprecate the learr.hing scrutiny of Religion. Practical Suggestion. We offer to our Republican fiiend a few suggestions as to getting up and conducting thtit, campaign meetings.
Uuleaa some method and forecast be observed, one half tbe meetings may be failures. 1st, then: Do not engago too many speakers. Two good, reliable ones, ti x i and secured for the occaaion, with a contingent reserve of local aid, are quite enough for any one Uli i no. The calls are very irreal, and no supernumeiariea should be engaged. 2nd: Secure your speakers 6rst, and let them fix the time; otherwise you will involve them in con'usion and yourselves in disappointment. 31: If your i-peakvrs are from broad, see that provision is made for compensation, at least expenses. Remember, it is a sacrifice to leave family, home, business, and travel night ind day, pay fare and hotel bills Tn. in shall not muzzle tbe ox "that ireadeth out the corn." Remember, i here are many of you, nnd you sacrises for one meeting. Your speak erf lire in the daily sacrifice of time, business, lungs and constitution. 4th: If your gatherings are too large for indoors, then select s grove or woods. Always erect s speaker's s and, nnd see that it is covered with boar Is (not canvas). It saves the speaker's voices and helps the audience to hear. Let your coveringb irds project three or four feet be beyound the platform on which the speaker stands; then you will be sure to protect his voice. This arrangement may seem of small moment to you, but it is of immense moment to the speaker. ö.h: If possible, in every gather ing arrange for some good, soul stir ring Glee Songs. Let your Glee Clubs bu made up uf male and female singera. Take oare that the songs sung are not buffoonery and trash. Let ihem be such as have soul in them. 6ih: Never fail of inviting your wives, daughters and sisters. Their presence and refining influence are everywhere being felt, in ru-meetings. The wrongs of Kansas stir Woman's he it to the its ce ter. 7 b: Don't waste too much money on banners, powder and processions, hut rather save it for documents and papers. 8th: Don't fritter away half your davor evening in preliminaries, as to who shall be chairman, committee, Ac. Remember nine o'clock comes very soon after dark. Get right to work, else your audience will tire before you begin. These hintsespecially that rela!in' to engaging speakers and preparing the speakers' stand will be of incalculable advantage. We ask our brethren of the press to insert, if they ireu with us in these suggestions, or in the other case, ofler belter. Reports from onr speakers in the field assure us that meeting were nev I arse and enthusiastic as in the present campaign. The feeling in oehalf of Free Speech, Free Territory and suffering Kansas is beyond parallel. N. Y. Tribune. The Next President. AYER'S PILLS. FOB Alt THE FTOP08IS Of A FAMILY PHYSIC. Thbkb haa long existed a public dam aod Cor an affitctive purgative pill which could be relied on as sure and perfectly safe In Ita operation. This haa bssti prepared to meet that demand, aad aa eat ten -Sim trial of it virtues haa eonotuaivaly shown with what success it accomplishes the aaraoaa designed. It la easy to make a physical pill, I Hit not easy to make the best of all ptlli one which ktionld tiara none of the objewtiona, bat all the advantages, of very other. Thia baa been st ten) "led here, and with hat aucceaa rra would rrripafwully submit to the public decision. It haa been unfortunate for the patient hitherto that almost every purgative sjmSJCSM is aefUuonions and irritating to the bow la. I his is not. Many of them produce so much griping pain and revulsion in the system ss to more tnan counterbalance the good to be derived from them. Tnese ptltt produce no Irritation or pain, unless il arise from a previously existing obstruction or derangement in the bowels. Heilig purely vegetable, no harm can arise from their oae tn aay quantity ; ( it Is batter that any medicine should be taken judiciously. Minute directions for their use in the several diaantea to which they are applicable are given on tbe box. Among the complaints which hare been speedily cured by them, we may mention Uver Complaint, in ita various forms of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Lows of Appetite, Lietleaaneas, Irritability, Uilious Headache, Bilious Petrer. Peter and Ague, Pain in the Side and Lntna ; for, in truth, all these are bat the consequence of diseaaed action In the liver. Aa en aperient they afford prompt and sure relief ia Cnrfvraase, Piles, Colic, l))entery, Humors, Scrofula and Srnrvy, Colds vrith soreneas of the bodv, Ulcer and impurity of the Mood, Irregularities ; in short, any ana every aas whore a purgaave ia required. 1'hey have also produced some singularly sue eemfuf cures in Rheuroatinm, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel, P.rraipelaa, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains m the Bark. Stomach, and Side. They should be freely taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood and prepare the lystem for the change of seasons. An occasional dos stimulates the stomach and b-iwel into healthy action, and restores the appetite and vigor. They purify tbe blood, and, by their stimulant action on the circulatory system, renovate the strength of the body, and restore thr wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism. Hence on occasional aooe is advantageous, even though no serious derangement exists; but unnecessary duing should never be carried too lar, aa every purgative medicine reduces the strength, when taken to eaeeoa. The tbowMiid cooes in wnieh a phj .ic ia required cannot be enumerated here, but they suggest themselves to the reason of every body; and it is confidently believed this pill will answer a better purpose than any thing which has hitherto been available to mankind, when their virtues ore ones known, the public will no longer doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped, they are C' jsant to take, and being purely vegetable, no n eaa ariwe from their uae tn any quantity;. For ininuto directions, aee wrapper un tba Box. J'KKI'A It KU BV DR. This remedy has won for itself snch notoriety from ita cures of ev ery variety of pulmonary disease, that it is entirely unnecessary to recount the evidences of its virtues in any community where it has been employed, ßo wide is the field of ita usefulness, and so numerous the cases of its cures, that almost every section of the country abounds tn persons publicly knows, who have been restored from alarming ajid even desperate diseases of the lungs by its use. When once tried its superiority over every other medicine of ita kind is too apparent to escape obeerv ation, and where ita virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ for the distressing and dangerous affection of the pulmonary organs which are incident to our climate. Not only in formidable attacks upon the lungs, but for the milder varieties of CoLne, Coi'ohs, Hoaksf.mess, &c. ; and for Childbbn it ia the pleasantest and safest medicine that can be obtained.
