I Six Doggerie "Cleaned out." KINO ALCOHOL DETHRONKD ! pomAi sovEinoim tbithphast. We published last week a bort socouat of ilic mobbing and destruction of the doggeries in Princeton, by the ladies. In ani.xtia trom tho Princeton Clarion office, we hare a more detailed report of it which, we think, the extraordinary character of the act, and the feeling it indicates, justify us m publishing. Onatnrday. the ladies met and passed the following resolutions: At a meeting of the Ladies of Princeton, on Saturday, March 2 2d, 1856, it was unanimously Retolvcd, That there shall be no selling of sprituous liquors in Princeton. Resolved, That due notice be given to grocers and others, that if they presume to keep such lienors for sale, they may expect a visit from the Ladies to destroy the liquors. RtovJ, That there be no neutrality. Let it be distinctly understood that the majority of the Ladies of Princeton regard liquor selling groceries as a nuisance that cannot be tolerated; and that whatever of talent, influence, energy, or bodily strength they may possess, shall be used to rid themselves of the evil. Desperate cases require desperate remedies. On the same day they set to work to carry out their determination, and the way they did it will serve as a "caution" to all liquor sellers in that "neck of woods" for one while. The Clarion says: On last Saturdaycvening about 3 o'clock we were attracted by the unusual appearance of eighty or one hundred ladies filing past our office door, with visages betokening more of sorrow than anger, yet a stern determination apparent in every fair faco, as its owner passed silently up the side walk. Our wonder being naturally excited to know "what waa up," we were not long kept in doubt as to its determination. The procession moved not with the noisy beating of drums, nor colors flying as in the pomp and circumstance of war, but with a noiseless tread, save a low rumbling of calicoes and i.ilks, and tho light pattering of feet upon the sidewalk. The prooession halted at "Qollaher's Finish," and a parley ensued. The burly proprietor of that "institution," who commanded the citadel, was standing at the door in au attitude that indicated that "his voice was still lor war. Up tens Mrs. Olive Branch (I) the spokesman, a matronly lady of half a century, and in rcapectful and diir&fied tone signified that "tho ladies of Princeton requested a discontinuance of the sale of spirituous liquors aa a beverage within the limits of this community, and In case of refusal a confiscatiot and destruction of the liquor held for the injurious traffic. " Tho reply was tauntingly given: "1 will evil whenever 1 pUe, ami expect to make my flying vrj ft." "Is that your determination, consider ?" "Yes, madam." "Then L have done all that I can do, ae I havo no arms." The spokesman retired, and at this juncture up stepped Mrs. Hutterer (2) a dignified, elderly lady, whose furrow ed brow gave unraistakeable signa of sorrow and desolation, caused by the oppression of those sinks of hell, thro' a husband, brother, and perhapa sonn one who suffered long and endured much until forbearance ceased to be a virtue. She was armed with a rusty and heavy broad-axe that had seen some service. The command was I given to "open that door," and an- - s l. -' 1 U.I..J k..L " aworeu uj r uwsateuiag emuuitca, when up sprung the broad -axu at arms length poised mid'way but a moment, yet long enough to be answered by the flaahing gleam of fifty bright hatchets reflecting the glistening rays of a declining sun, ami wielded by fifty fair but nerved arms for the contest; a moment's portentous silence and down same the broad-axe crash (lew the door panneTs and window aaah to their utter demolition. The "sight" was too ntncii lor me tvmgm oi tno Dotfgcry, and he "ingloriomly fled," disappearing as if by witchcraft in the face of the glistening blades, leaving BO opening or track of his exit tho waters of the sea opened ar.d closed after him to hide the track from his pursuers. The work of destruction then commenced bottles kegs barrels and jugs, alike shared one common grave, in a way too that4 would shame the destruction of Sebastopol streams of the dark and filthy water bubbled o'er the floor, and tainted the air breathed by five hundred nostrils. Five minutes sufficed to clean out this holo in the row, and the gallant operators rested in their labors. Tho stem and unrelenting captain contemplating the crush of bottles and the wreck of liquors betöre her, raised her trusty weapon dripping with tho goro of its victims and looking steadily al it, while the hot tears stole down her matronly cheeks, was thus thought to address it: "Ah my trusty weapon, thou hast', a virtue'in thee, that had 1 dreamed of ten years ago, and been backed a a a at a oy nail aa many ot mv sex as art) I hen to day, I couid now rejoice iu a living, breathing and devoted husband to cheer my declining years, nor wo'd my head at this moment been bowed down with sorrow towards the grave. But I yet am a MOTÜEH, end havo SONS in danger 1 ladies! Forward. A few steps brought them to "Ruten fr an' "where tho same parley ensued and.with like success. The word was again given to charge, and the work of demolition again commenced. The "lager" flew, aa if rejoicing in Us escape, and whistled with a hissing sound through the oneninus n, the kegs, madt by the unerring haichots bow tntoxicatca by toe lames of vietory. V shout that made the welkin ring, now issued from Hve hundred manly ihroata outside-a that told the work wu done. The glad tidings ware ra-eehood by all the great beU of the town with merry peals, in miniature imitation of tho old Independence Bell of '76, ihi.t proclaimed the si-;n ing of the Declaration of Independence. TUe word forward" waa aurain gim and the fairy band of outlaw Eroeceded to Ult the "Patriarch of is tribe" Sister Fisher's. Hero wtta found but a few barrels aud ketrs, kept oily for "mudtcal and sacramental purposes 1" The work of destruction
i was again reenmed, and the havoc I was awful, oough to bring tears to the eves of the besotted toper, who
f accompanied each whack of the hatchet with a sigh tor the "uepnriea spirits." One case in particular we will ; digress to mention. A walking illustration of a whisky barrel was with doleful countenance looking on at the 1 destruction of his favorite beverage, and could not resist the involuntary exclamation of ahame ! The next visit was to friend "Kolb," a man among the men of his calling one who had always lived on terms of acquiescence to the laws and rights of his neighbors. Here a compromise ensued by acceding to the request to "sell no more." The pledge being satisfactory his property was spared and the procession moved off, rejoicing that they found a "man" and a gentleman that had saved them the necessity of spilling more of the '"critter." They next visited a German by the name of "Shivley," whose wife had a baby yesterday before noon," and who protested that he did not keep the "ardent." A search was instituted ant' a barrel discovered hid in a stake and ridered hog-pen, and its contents went the way of all the rest. They then proceeded to tho "Last Resort," kept by a German named Spitzer, who "hadn't a bit on hand," except three barrels and a half of green whisky hooked out from under the wood piles and potatoo holes. Potatoe town will smell of whisky for a week, from the inundation. The work set apart for the day being finished, the tired and laureled heroines retired to their head-quarters, and dismissed with a resolution to reassemble when ever occasion required, and more work was to be done, or until a law was enacted by the "lords of creation," for their protection.

I " ry We learn that since the crushing confiscation of tiio liquor in Princeton by the ladiet., only one being, math in the image of man, has had the audacity to open afresh tho vilo stimm of destruction and death. A few days ago, the fair portion of tho town assembled a I the Mcthodlfl Kpiseopnl Church, for the purpose of making arrangements for a donation party. It ia pretty clear that Mr. Crampton is not a man to be trusted with important business; and we cannot see how the English government can do otherwise than recall him. It is possible, however, that President Pierce, not satisfied with a simple recall, will insist upon hnvmg Am reason for it expressly stated; and that tho reason assigned by the English Government will be declaredjinefficient by the President. So the question of ounctilio between the two Govern ments will remain exactly where it was, with the additional embarrassment to the English Cabinet, that, while, on the one hand, to recall Mr. Crampton at this moment might have the appearance of sacrificing him for doing what ho wa instructed to do, on tho other, not to recall him would be to overlook a grave ofiense, and repose confidence in one who has shown that he does not deserve it. that tlio Imperial throne had an heir. but the fact was not generally known till about t iht o'clock.
