Urs-y ITotMjlm npoa the antiTta facility witu which the aiaued indignation of tho whole North hai beea eztingulthed by the miserable perfidy of the ocullea American party, U mortijinj. and lorowfully prophte ie. Dy ye&rtof perautent labor, the consience and honor of multitudes of the north hud been aroused. They be gan to see and ralue the real principle i fundamental to the American in sututioua. Under the shallow pretenio that Kaor Kothing log would by and by became the champions of liberty, a now they are of the Protestant faith, thousands have been inveigled into those catacombs' of freedom. One night as well study optics among tie pyramids of Egypt, or the sub terraneaa tombs of Rome, as liberty in the secret conclaves eotrolled by hoary knaree versed in political intrigue, who can hardly enough express their surprise and delight to find honest men going into a wide spreadsystem of secret caucusses." Honest men in such places have the peculiar advantage that fiies have in a spider's web the privilege of losing their legs, of bulling without flying, and of being eaten up by big bellied spiders! A Ilendicant Lending Five Hundred DollarsHis Children Beggingvoia v lcvuaij uvm us xrorrowcr. The following was related to ns yesterday by a business friend, and may be relied upon as a literal fact. A well known gentleman doing business and residing in the upper part of the city, had occasion a few days since to make a loan of 500$, and applied to one of his friends for assistance. His friend happening at that moment to be 'short was unable to accommodate him, but offered to accompany him to the house 'of a worthy German in this city, where he had no doubt the desired object could dj effected. The two accordingly proceeded to the house of "Mjnneer'where our friend stated his object, and having sat U&ed the German, in regard to 'usance' security, dec, a well filled stocking was brought out, and the 9500 forth with counted down and placed in his hands, accmp&nied by the remark, "I lend you five hundret dollar more if you want 'em." This generous offer was declined, the transaction was closed, and as our friend turned to leare, the door opened and in trooped the three or four ragged children of the money lender, with baskets on their arms, whom the borrower at once recognised as "regular customers" at his bouse, and who had just at that moment returned from his larder with their customary supply of cold victuals -for the boarders. Times. 0u jo Liquor Law. If the liquor law continues to be enforce! as it is at present, there Is imminent danger that our police ofikers and police rourts will nave nothing to do. There were only two arrests made yesterday in tho whole city for disorderly conduct. Think oflhist Tax payers will find that there Is an intimate relation be tweeacity expenditures and the de crease of drunkenness. Cin. Columlian. XTTle Cincinnati German eoffro house keepers, in a lne meeting, have resolved to petition Council to so alter the city ordinance as to permit the selling of beer and wine on Sunday; They will march in procession to the isouncu unamoer, ana present wie petition en masse. Should this fail. they design closing all their places of uuaiocaa, ana oy retusmg w sen, nope to arouse wine and beer drinkers to an open revolt against the Sunday restriction. Tu' List. One of our predecessors cosies rushing to ask us "Why are the Kick-a-poos, (who walk with their feet turned inward,) like a rou sical chord t " We gave it up, and he says "Ijecause they are in to-na Uonl C3T It is the advise of 'cullud gem man,' that if you have any money about you, the less you show it around the better. 'Cause vy ? niggers will steal, while white folks ain't no better sometimes dan niggers.' The advice will bear dwelling on. Til. M.
