Various c (Tor U during the year 1C52 -3, to induce the LogisUture to repeal the cCartcr of this well known company, having signally failed, and its puerile cnactnn-nts to embarrass its operations having proved entirely inadequate to arrest its onward progress and growing popularity, tic directors have ' the pleasure of assuring their numerous friends and patron, that this road tc ruin is in a more prosperous condition than crcr. Within the last three months it has carried more than thtcc hundred thousand passengers, who have gono all tho way "through" frpi the city of Temperance o the city of Destruc tion, while tho number o "way passenger?, who have ken Accomodated with very convenient . "lifts," Las tocft almost incredible. An enormous Amount of freight, such a workmen's tools, household furniture, etc., has alaogono forward, and from these and other sourcet of revenuo the receipts of the year have been so largo that tho director! hare resolved to declare n dividend of five hundred per cent. Meanwhile" immense expenditures hnvo been made in various p-irts of the road to render it favorite with the travelling public. Many of tho grade have been altered, and no reduced tht only a practical eye can discern the difference between them and a dead level. Much of tho track that had been Worn away by regular travel and those acctiona which wt-ru torn up by lata "frokti," ha been rchtiJ with Messrs. Satanie & Co', patent mil. CoiiTcnicnt lpots have ken fatal)linked at different points on the routa for the beucr accomodation of passen gen who way ho waiting for tho arrival of the trains. Tho Switches have been jKirttttila rty guarded, and numerous Turnouts have been made to avoid collikions with tho 7otal Abstinence 1 L'ngine and tho Temperance Trains, which hare lately caused o much vucasincss. In short, we have spared no exertion or expense to malo it superior to any other road to ruin that has thus far been established. It further gives us pleasure to say that equal attention haa been given to the improvement of tho Engines and the cars. Tho old and favorito locomotive Alcohol, has been thoroughly repaired, and in the experienced hands of Mr. Oelial (tlw foreman df Satanic fc Co.,) wo are satisfied that it w ill outstrip in speed anything on the road. To fall in with tho spirit cf tho times, tho JliUky, Rum and Brandy cars for forward passengers have been greatly 'enlarged, and tho fare reduced to half price. Tito new cider car, that has been put on within a few months, has already bgan to excite great attention, And we are happy to say has been found to run as well on the track as any other. Uut tho wiue cars especially, are models of luxurious conveyance, as even ladies And children can travel in them often times without beincr wäre that they nro trareling at all. It might seem invidious to suggett superiority, whero there is universal excellence, hut wo must be allowed to call attention particularly to the new and superior car "Sparkling catawba" built by "Anti fanatic Si Co." of Porkpolis. Passengers however, who prefer tho Beer car. Porter car, die. can readily be accommodated on tdiowing their ticket to Mr. Mix, our polite And gentlemanly conductor who has ; been so long and f.ivorably known as . the Br-kceper of "Drinkers Hotel" city of Destruction. Ueoclatiox The down train will leave Cideivillo At 6 A. M. Portervillc; 7 A. M. Cccrtown, 8 A. M. , IPineville, 9 A. M. Brandyborough, 10 A. M. Rumopolis, U A. M. Whisky city, 12 A. M. At 1 P. M. this Train will intersect at the town of Moderation, the various .accommodation trains from Little - lrop, Mcdicincvillc, Old Pledge, Fashiontown, Customvillo die., after which the speed of the train will be greatly accelerated, stopping, however, to land Dassenirera at i'oorhtiuaevill. llospitaltown, Trisonburg and various . other places on the road. On Bnndays Extra cars will be in readiness lor the accommodation of passengers at tho above hours until fur ther notice. N, B. All baggage at the risk of me owner, ana widows and orphans are particularly requested not to en . quire after persons and property at Ruin Depot, as in no case do the Di - rectors Jiold themselves liable for ac cidents. Wir. WHOLESALE, Vm l. Robert Retail, Sccy. Kamrriral Inra er the Sain, The last census developes some ruri ous facts. It files the numerical law of the sexes thus: 1. There are more males thsn females born, by about 4 per cent. 2. At 20 yeara of tire this prepondcr ance is entirely lot, and there are more lemales thaa males. 3. At 40 yeara, the balance is s?ain .the other way, and there are wore males than females. 4. At 70 the sexes are about even, and the ultimate age of the human bein" Is reached without any decided advan" U to either sex. lletween 70 and 100 years of age, there are 14,311 more a. hi to woman than there are males, beinj more than five per cent, of the a-bole number. Beyond the age of forty years, the proba- . lilitie of longevity are much greater for American women than for men. This . contrast singularly with the factth" the physique (relatively) of American : women i inferior to that of American men. That fact, as u bawu, however,

tells tre meiiuVusly on woman between the of 20 and 40, when their inurtalitv U very preat. ' The longevity of ome women is very extraordinary. There are some four hundred and thirty American women above ouo liundra years of age. Indiana Democratic Slat Couren tlon.
