Our lady readers will be glad to learn that Mrs. Hazzard has just received a fresh variety of all articles in her line, of the latest fashions, consisting of Bonnets, Caps, Ribbons and such fancy articles as come in her line. She will have another supply up before the Fair, Ladies coming to the Fair, will thus have an opportunity to trim themselves out in the latest fashions, and Mrs. H. assures us on reasonable terms. Give her a call. 0O"Hon. Hesrt Walker visited our town and made a speech on Temperance in the M. E. Church on Saturday evening. Rev. Joseph Barwick, was also here, and preached in the same church on last Sabbath. Livery Stable. Mr. T. V. Mitchel desires to say that his new Livery Stable, near the public house of Mr. Williams, will be ready for the reception of horses by the time of the Fair, which commences next Wednesdag, the Gth inst. Sons of Temperance. Notwithstanding the rain in the morning the sons had a large turn out and fine procession on Saturday. The exercises commenced on Friday evening in th Presbyterian Church when Rev. Mr. Spencer of that church, and the Rev. Mr. Hibbes of the High School, both delivered able lectures upon the subject. On Saturday there was a large number of the order present. A procession was formed about 10 a. m., which, after marching through the principal streets, to the excellent music of the Andersonville Brass Band, proceeded to the beautiful grounds being fitted up for the Fair, when eloquent addresses where delivered by Rev. Thjs. Goodwin and the Rev. Mr. Hibbex, and an excellent dinner was prepared by our fellow citizen Mr. E. Pattisos; who by the way as we hear has consented to furnish dinners at the j same place during the Fair, o 1 omperanc e odes were sun?: under .- , , .Iuireciioii oi Jir. iiiuui.. .uer me o.cruises then had closed, they again formed in procession and marched through the principal streets of Laurel and of Somerset. I Hon. Hr.xRV Walker of Aurora, who ; having been invited as one of the speakers did not arrive in time to participate in ' the exercises at the Fair Grounds, but delivered in the evening one of his most eloquent and interesting speeches to a large audience in the M. E. - Church. He gave the enemies of temperance no quarter. It is unnecessary to say that he was listened to throughout his long speech with marked and unusual inter est. The most profitable I airs ni.ifrar. tul. w Sometime ago a concert was broken up by rude boys, large and small, at the Church. A few of the offenJers w believe were taken up and fined. They were probably dealt with mildly, as the example seems without effect. The same church has again been the scene of conduct no less disgraceful. While a party of ladies were engaged in sewing canvass for the Fair they were so much annoyed and disturbed by a parcel of rude boys, as to be compelled to seek another place to finish the work. Some of the boys we learn were small and some were nearly irrown. We i -' know not whether they were drunk, but one of them at least, had a bottle of whitskey with him. We have as peaceable and moral an adult community as can be found, and we are proud to say some as genteel, intelligent, noble youths as any town can produce, while it must be confessed that we have some of the worst, most immoral; profane and ill bred. We know not the names of the offenders, but hope they will not again suffer themselves to be guilty of like conduct. Will not parents take more care of their children than to suffer them thus to annoy peaceable citizens! Will they not restrain them from running about yelling through the streets, as th.T frequently do,' till a late hour in the night! Cannot the evil be checked without resorting prosecutions; which Will have to be done unless th course is chnnfred.
