It was not our privile to be present at the examinations, being too much of a slave to the pub ic, but tho exhibilioa oa We.iuesiay was iuloresiig. We were disappointed. In courtesf to t!ie teachers, lhe scholars and the institution, wo went to the church to hear what we expected would be poor couipo-itionsbtdly read. Such, however, was not our mUfor.une. The compositions were sprightly, at the same time dignilied, and written with the care aud grace of .experience. I hey were read, too, iua manner truly creditable to the young ladies of our twu. No mock modesty prevented them ;aB !ist nuiiy of them) from opening their mouths and reading their produclionsaudibly, carefully and gracefully. One of the greatest ernameuts iu th-s education of a young lady is to be a good reader. And the exhibition on that evening evinced that this department had not been ti'glected.
