iouowing very prettv storv: Paris, Sept. 1L1S51. A few days ago appeared in the list of deaths it. the morning paper the name of Widow Constance. Few took notice of this simple announcement, and fewer still knew the incidents of the beautiful life that had just closed. I am sure your readers will be interested in the short sketch I am going to give them, and which has been furlushed me raillv bv an emiL wr nent physican, who knew the excellent widow, and.indeed closed her eyes when they had loooked their last upon earth. ; Constance was the daughter of a ; brave otlieer, killed at the opening of Napoleon's Italian campaign. Left alone at the age of seventeen, without any other support than her cour lge, her beauty, and her virtue, she became the vivandiere of her father's regiment, the 70 th of the line. For the benefit of those of your readers who may not been informed on the subject, I willexplainthat a vivandiere is a woman who ioliows a regiment, sometimes on foot, and sometimes in a little cart, and sells liquor to the soldiers. She always h is on hand, too, a supply of delicacies for the sick, and rolls of linen, and an assortment of balsams and salves for the wounded. She is aluDst always, a brave, noble-hearted woman, braving I'lii-fi,
