Ky, March 13, 1851 B W N. Haldemax: A robbery waacommited last night about 9 o'clock, four and a half mile's South of Ballardsville, in the edge of Shelby county about 22 miles from Louisville, which in point of boldness, daring and numbers, has, not its equal in oar part of the Slate, I think. The house of Messrs, James and David Beal, was entered by five white men all dressed in broadcloth, who proceeded to knock down the two Messrs, Beat's, their old mother, a young gentleman about 21 years old, who was at the time in the house, and a negro woman the latter was knocked down and thrown on a bed after which the robbers proceeded to invest themselves with upwards of $2,000 in cash, about one half of which was in bank paper, and the balance in silver. The Beats wero both k nocked senseless, and one of them, James Beal, haa not yet recovered and will perhaps die. The young man mentioned above, says that five was the number who entered the house, but the old lady, who was the first to discover their approach to the house, says there were from eight to ten, a part of the number remaining ou side. T am informed that the house and victims of this high-handed outrage presented this mor ning a distressing picture, the entire family being covered with blood. I am sorry to learn that as yet no possible clue has been found, by which to form the most distant Idea as to who are the guilty ones, because having succeeded so well in this instance, the parties may be, and I might say will be induced to commit furthur violence to the persons and property cf others of our unsuspecting citizens. I write you this note that oor community maybe informed that they have in their midst a band (undoubtedly large) of midnight assassins, who are in all probability ready to strike in any quarter for booty.
