A comparison between the fiee and State fcanss would be found to result in the f;ict, that free Bai.k notes are i.sud on good and valid se"rities, dollar for collar, whereas, in the case or the State Bank, there would only be, oi. dollar sec utity forevtrytwo dollars and a half Issued, It had been contended, that the New York Banks had issued eighteen dollars or notes for every specie collar in their vaults. This, w ithout explanation, might seem strange, But mhen it was considered that these notes were secured, dollar for dollar, and thai this specie mas a surplus to meet present contingencies, it was so much additional security. It had been urged that iu the 'w inding up of ome of the New York Banks, Indiana bonds had beeu sold at a large discfiunt. This could never occur again, Rad wit!, the guards now thrown around the State, which prevented a further public debt, such a result could never aga o take place. Aoqnittnl cf Jacob tSrwn t barged with the rtlnntrr of Ihe VdHerr of hi. wife. The Delaware Ivepublican gives the following account of the trial and acquittal of Jacob Green! Jacob Green was tried on Tuesday last, at Newcastle, for the murder of Abraham Red den. It was proved t'.ret Green was married I e ... " i , . , .. . , - i aDout six years apo, and lived happily w ith a woman to whom he was much attached, and I that Redden seduced her from her fidelity to ' him II would frequently take her from her . house and keep her away nil night; and there wes proof of adulterous intercourse. On Green! accusing him cf it, ho said, "Yes, I have had I your wife, and will have her again, whenever 1 like, and if yon don't keep quiet 1 will blow your liver out." He carried two pi.-tols loaded for the avowed purpose of shooting Green, and on one occasion assaulted and beat him severely. He loaded three pistols with sltigs on Satnroy, the Tii'tn ot J oly last, telling nis own wire thai he intended to shoot Green. That night he took Green's wife from her house, and kept i. . .n ;u. v her out all night. Green discovered the cnilty pair about day break the next morning, went some two or three miles an d borrowed a gun, returned and found ! Redden sitting asleep in a neighboring house and j shothim through the open door He immediate'y surrendered himself. After being tried he ' told the story of his wrongs in so affecting a manner that he drew tears from the officer and all present. He wound tap by saying, "Now Mr. Hickman, had yon been in my place wonld you not have done aa I didl" To which the officer religiously and feelingly replied, "if not restrained by divine grace I think t should." Green begged to see his wife, and she was broueht to him, He his manacled arms for a husband to kill a man foand in the act of adultery with his wife, and the jury, considering even that as beyond the guilt ofthe defendant under the circumstances oi nssraisimn una outrage presented by his case, acquitted himentirely.
