his commands, transgressed bis holy Law, fallen under its penalty and its curse, and become enemies to God by v. iekcd works. Yet his love, which is an attribute of, and like himself, unchiingcable, is still commended towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, giving himself a ransom for many to be testified in duo time, and dying he destroyed death; but he arose again the third tlav, andltf-
-! " I7!? - ; sing he brought Life and immortality to light, and having lledecmed
z-Z s. ! us unto God with his own blood, we are not our own. We are bought
with a price. And in due time he ascended up on hi2.l1. with that
blood, to appear in the presence of God for us. And sending the holy spirit into the world to reprove the world of sin, of Righteousness and of judgment. And we trust also into our hearts to bring us to a knowledge of ourselves; and to sec that in our father's house is bread enough and to spare, while we starve in the wilderness of sin. And to acknowledge that we have sinned against heaven and in the sight of God, and arc no more worthy to be called a son, but to seek a servant's plaee.
j Thus drawn with his loving kindness we are brought to the fountain
that is opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem fur sin and uncleanness, and wearied with sin and laden with guilt
2!we come to Jesus, who speaks peace to the troubled heart, and gives jrest to the weary soul, and we take his yoke (or should do) upon us,
and learn of him, for he is meek and lowly 111 heart, and his voko is
easy and his burden light. Hut still in an enenne s land and having an imperfect and unruly nature to war against, and being exposed to the temptations cf Satan, how important that wc should consider his words, and more especially so, when we see his disciples who were daily with him, and who had with open vision beheld every displav of the
i power of God in the works that the Father gave him to do, and had
heard hmi say, as he passed tr.c brook Cedron, "My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto deatly ' and had received from his mouth the iniunction, "tarrv here and watch with me," and when he had gone a little
4 i farther and fell down and prayed he came and found them sleeping.
!0, let us not sleep, for the apostle says, "thev that sleep sleep 111 the
night;"' and again, "ye are not the children of darkness nor of the night." Then let us watch and be sober, aud watch unto prayer. But if we should feel our short comings in this or any other duty, let us remember the kindness of his words to them, "What, could ve not watch with me one hour? the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak; ' thus showing that lie could be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.
'Let us as the children of God, hearken to the voice of our heavenly
fither, and as the Lride of Christ lotus follow the example of our husband, and pray in his name every needed grace, knowing that his name is a strong tower into which the righteous ran and are safe. Or as the sheep of Christ, let us give heed to the voice of our shepherd, for he has said "I am the good shepherd, I lay down my life for the sheep," aud again, ''when he putteth forth his own sheep he goeth before them." Let us then, examine for the foot steps of our shepherd and be careful
that we enjoin nothing on each other but that he has commanded in his holy word, and as disciples having learned of Christ, and as churches, let us, in the fear of God, maintain every institution of his appointment in his house, and on the other hand, let us reject every thing as ordinances in his sanctuary" not of divine appointment. But let us resist with, the meekness of our Master, who by the
"the Lord rebuke thee," and
with the firmness of those who live for Christ and rely upon the promises of God. And as knowing that although they come with human wisdom and are said of men to do much good yet if of man only they will come to naught with all his power, wisdom aud skill, for their suppert. Bui if of God ve cannot overthrow them but thev shall arise

'J'h'-v -jr entirely composed of extracts from rare and powerful plants, the virtue of which, thoush lonp; known to several Indian tribes, and recently to some eminent pharmaceutical chemists, are altogether unknown to tlie ignorant pretenders to medical science ; and were never before administered in so happily efficacious a combination. The first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels the various impurities and crudities constantly settling round them; audio emove the hardened fieees which collect in the
convolutions of the small intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, aud leave such collected masses behind to p'oduce habitual Costive-

its imminent dangers. This fact is well
known to all regular anatomists who examine the tinman bowels after death ; and hence the prejudice of these well-informed men apainst the qnack medicines of the aj-e. The second effect of the VEGETABLE LIFE KEDICIUES is to cleanse the kidneys aud the bladder ; and, by this means, the liver and lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends u.xn the regularity of the urinary organs. The blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and lungs, before it passes into the heart, being thus purified by them, and nourished by food coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek. The following are among the distressing variety of human diseases in which the VEGETABLE LITE MEDICINES are well known to be mial hble : DYSPEPSIA,, by thorocghly cleaning the fir and second ettimuchs, and creating a flow f pr healthy bile, instetid of tlie stale and arrid km : FLATl'LENCV, Appetite, llenthirn, Headache, Restlrxnrxs, Ill-temper, ,4w-e',V, liangxior, and Mehmehtily, whioN are the fa"ral symptoms nf Ilyspepsia, will vauuu, as a h'.ural consequence of its cure.
