This State is generally spoken of as little. It is about 100 miles long from north to south, and
SO miles wide, coutaiuiug about 2.000 tquare miles. Our present recollection is (for we have uone of Greeley' Almanacs before us) that Indiana has about 38,000 square miles, making it about as large as IS States of Delaware. The
Seat of Government is at Dover, where they
have a humble little State House, which cost probably $5,000, wberein assemble annually 9 Senators and 21 Representatives. The flails in

and Petit Jury rooms for our county. But they are ample for the Legislative business of the three counties. The people, the laws and institutions of the Stete, the farming, and their social customs are peculiarly old fashioued here. For instance, in the administration of justice by the courts, they yet use the callows, pillory, whipping post, the prison, and the brand. The penalty for stealing
