The new Germanic Organisation embraces all
the German provinces, excluding, of course, that part of Austria, which belongs to the Sclavonic race, and this is the majority of Ihe people, governed by the present Austrian government. Perhaps U may not be uninteresting to some of your readers to know who Prince John Is. He is uncle to the present Emperor, Ferdinand I., and brother of the celebrated Arch Duke Charles. He is about 6? years old, and has always stood aloof from the imperial court and its intrigues. In his youth, he was a most valiant soldier. He commanded in the well-fought but unfortunate battle of Hohen -Linden, against Moreau, beat Gen. Lecoushe in a bloody engagement at Saliburg, (1800.) Let thtre be no more an Austria, a Trussta
knt let there be a unite., a free Germany," (ein Iniges frelet. Dcetscliland.) This sentiment, coming from an Austrian Prince, electrified the Germans. His name came to be mentioned by high and low, and In erery nook and corner of
tii coaatry. Those who know the peculiarly e lettable, and withal somewhat poetical, not to ay sentimental, character of the Germans, cannot fail to perceive that it was this happy accident, (if inch it may be called) whieh placed the Austrian Frince at the head of the country. Upon the announcement of the election of John of Austria, as Administrator of the Empire, the good city of Frankfort gave demonstrations of the most enthusiastic concurrence with the Parliament The cannons thundered, the belts chimed, a brilliant illumination took place la the night. A committee of seven was sent to Vienna to inform the Duke of his election. They were received every where by the people with the greatest enthusiasm, and more particularly in Austria. Their entry into Vienna was similar to that which is usually accorded to vic
torious conquerors only. John, after having had the act of Parliament rsad to him by one of the committee, returned, in a very few and plain words, his thanks, and accompanied by the committee stepped out on the balcony of the Imperial Falace, and addressed tii) people, informing them of what had happened, and what dignity had been conferred upon him. He concluded by sayiDg, "We are all brothers now!" When the members of the committee of safety In Vienna (the Government of Austtia in fact)
called upon John, to congratulate him on his election, the President said to him: "You have not been elected, because yon are a Prince, or because yon are a member of the house of Hapsbnrg, but because you have a German heart and are possessed of a loyalty to your country, and of eiVc virtue. It is not an election 'by the grace of God.' The people have elected you, And to the people you will have to render an account" Oft the 1 2 th of July the old Diet resigned, delivering the supreme central power to Prince John. Plitlcm make Ht range lU-tifrllaww. The fortansa of De Wit Clinton were blasted
by Mr. Van Daren; yet long before the turf was green over the remains of that great statesman, his eldest son was among the obsequious followers of him by whom the ftither had been maligned, overthrown and destroyed! Mr. Van Buren was the leader of a party which, by means as profligate and wicked as ambition could suggest, and recklessness execute, prostrated the Administration of John Quincy Adams. And yet the warning voice of the "old man eloquent" is scarcely hushed in the grave, before his "son and heir" is a delegate to n Van Buren Convention, and acctually links his fortune to that of his fathers most bitter enemy 'Albany Eve.
