Bob Watson, who is a lawyer, represents the city or Albany in the Legislature. He is somewhat vain of his abilities and personal appearance, though withal a preuy clever forl of a fellow. It was vety evident from tho arch manner in which Mike gauged him on his entiance, that there w as some fun in embroyo, and accordingly the whole house was on the euivine. The House having tesolved itself into "Committee of the Whole," Mr. Blodgetl of Gennessee in the Chair, the suspense in which all the members had sal during the whole morn ing was suddenly broken by Rob's rising in ut seat, which is some distance from that of Mike, and lawling out at the top of his voice, "Mr. Chairman, I rise, sir, with the vi-i iew of making a few remarks upon this ,"Here he was, broug it to a dead stand still by Mike who. jumped up, exclaimed with the most iinuerttirable gravity. "Mr. Chuinan. I : rise to a question of order." Chairman--(Scarcely able to suppress his laughter)--The genelleman from i New York. ' Mike (Looking over at Bob, whom he wildly scrutinized from head to foot with great seeming amazement and considerable indignation) I would like to 1 know, sir by what right individuals who aie not members of this House can be per mitted to take part in its debates; where, sir, are we to stop, if the floor of this House, with all the rights of membenhip, is to be thus thrown open to the public at large? At this, the whola House, galleries, members, officer, reporters, Chairmtn, ; and in short all but Mike and Bob, were absolutely convulsed with laughter; many laughing until the tears rolled down ! i heir cheeks. Not the shadow of a smile, j however, was to be seen on the countei nance of either of the two actors in this most admirable farce. Mike's eye, as he leaned over, rested steadily on Bob, and the latter gentleman seemed perfectly paralyzed by the unexpected, and, to him, inexplicable course matters had taken. He seemed riveted to the spot, and remained perfectly speechless. At length the chairman became sufficiently composed to drawl out in a very indistinct manner, that he was "rather inclined to the belief that Ihe gen tleman was a member." Mire. "Not having before had the pleasure of seeing the gentleman, sir, I would inquire of the Chairman at wh&t time he piesented his credentials, and what particular section of the Sta'e he has the honor lo represent?" A second roar of laughter, if possible more boisterous than the first, succeeded this inquiry, and Boh, who is notorious for his cAeefcand self complacency, seemed on the verge of fainting;, when Ihe Chairman announced that "he believed the gentleman was from Albany." Mike. (wiih increased surpiise) "Al bany? I thought Mr. Watson represented Albany." it is utterly impossible to give even a faint idea of what folio wed; suffice it to say that Bob sat down, Mike followed, and the whole House roared until they almost fell helpless under their desks, from the exhaustion produced by excessive mirth. rflHE tiRAEFEN BEHO COMPANY desire to call I the attention of every one interested in tbe health of the great and beautiful West, to their views respecting Thii class ol diseases is the Great Siourre of the western hemiinhere. Go where we mar, ihrir sad I effects are seen and felt. The brave and self-denying I settler w ho preises his way to the west, to make the I --wiiacrness oua ana nioisoni as me rote, meets n dreadful evil. He is willing to gork hard and endure every privation, thnnkt be t9 Arm. But in m little while he is seized with some form or dhmous disease. His strength now is weakness. A cloud comes over his prospects; and heeaelaims, muld that there were tme medictne fa prevent thit dreadjul evit. andt eure it rchen it dtet teize uptn itt victim!" From the momt ntul the landing ol tne Pilgrims 01 riymoutn to the present hour, billious diseases have sent sorrow and desolation through the land. Let the graves of tne loved and the lost tell tne story. A niomeiituous question here eotnes up. Dtet the Supreme Ruler intend that the toiling SONS OF THE WEST, men t willinr ttkemr the heat and burthen it the day. thould ef all othen heiuhject t it tad caiamitjf? It is not irteverent to say No A NO!! And why do we sayN f Because there is no elass of diseases that can be to certainly prevented and cured as thoie now spoken of. This is the Great Fact to which the Graefenberg Company would call the attention or GOV EK MlRa, CLERGYMEN, JVRISTS, LAWYERS, MEDI CAL MEN, PHILANTHROPISTS or every name and sect, HUSBANDS. FATHERS, WIVES and MOTHERS in the entire West. There is no reason w hy Billious disorders should not be Forever Banished from the We st. The reader may not believe thi: tie may smileat the idea. But in these days of Great Discoveries why should not something be found which will control and eure di urates which are, in their na ture. eontrolable and curable? It is a well known fact that the true nature of bilious disorders has been but partially understood. Here has been the great secret of the utter failure of nearly all the medical men and medicine-venders of the day. To nnrsir -rnr run I I seems to have been and to be their great aim in fever and ague; and to purge, drench, bleed and mercurialise in all the other forms of bilious fever. What hare been the consequences ! They are too well known to need relating. Tena or thousands have died; multitudes have had their blood poisoned by mercury; scarcely any have been permanently cured. The true theory is Prevention! and in cases w here it is in the system, to eradicate it thoroughly. All these ends aresurelv attained by the celebrated Graefenberg Vegetable Pills. Let them be fairly tried throughout the Great West, and the Billtev Taint which clings to the system a I. most like leprosy, will be eradicated. Health will be speedily restored; the sallow complexion will be made fresh and fair; strength and pleasurable sensations will return, and the next season will not find the GRJtE fJIV SI SO . for the victims of the diseases referred to. We venture to say that if these Pills w ere furnished to every family in the L n ited states at trie expense ot THE GESERJL GOVERSMEST, it would be the most economical and mercifiit expen diture ever made. Why? Because from every family all Billion tendencirt would he hanithed! The West would no lunger bedreaded. There would be NO MORE SICKLY SEASONS! The inhabitants there would be as free from such complaints as those of the healthiest portions of New Enrland. Unlike all other anti-b.llious medicines the Graelenberr Pills utterly prevent the formation of the disease within the system. Those who use them according to directions CANNOT BECOME BILLIOUS! With these remarks the Graefenberg Company invira a still more extended trial ot tneir Pills. 1st. In proof of this, it is only necessarv to refer to the fact that in the first six months of its existence more than 4,000 bottles were sold at retail in the city of Cincinnati alone that an array of names, sueh as no other article ever before presented to the public, men well known in the community and generally to the business public uf the West, have, Irom sense ol duty and a desire to Benefit their fellow men, eame forward voluntarily and pledged their characters to its intrinsic excellence, as een in their own families or felt in their own persons. It would be impossible, in tne short space ot a newspaper advertisement, to do anything like justice to the invaluable preparation. We have prepared a pamphlet, and put it in ihe hands of all our agents for gratuitous distnoution, wnere tnose wno are amierea themselves, or have friends that are, are earnestly invited to call and procure one. The Ginseng Panacea does not belong to the elass of ephemeral preparations so common at this day, which "strut their hour," and then disappear forever.
