A committee appointed by the citizens of Pittsburg to make collections in aid of the suffering poor of Ireland have forwar. ded the sum of $2,200, to be divided equally among the Tour Provinces of Ireland. The area included within the present undisputed limits or Wisconsin, is estimated at about 90,000 squre miles; equal to New York and Pennsylvania and larger by 25,000 fquare miles than the six New England States. A Horrible Massacre. The British Government has lately received information rrotn its agents on the Western Coast of ATrica or a frightful occurrence, which however, is not so novel in the annals or slavery. A negro chief, having 2 000 slaves upon his hand, and being unable to dispose of litem, had them all killed before his own eyes. The French Government has also been made acquainted with this horrible massacre. Epidemic Diseases in Ireland. The Mayo Constitution sayt: "Typus fever o" a malignant character, rages; also a disease for which we know no term, but of equal fatal consequences has made its appearance. It attacks the lips first, which fester and then ihe stomach, somewhat similar to English cholera, bo much so that we have heard a great many persons having falien victims to this Utter disease." Wealth of Boston. The real and personal propeily in Boston is valued at 149,839.600, being an increase since last year, of $12,830,900. Feed the Hungry. In conssi,uence of the great suffering and starring condition of the Poor in Ireland. The Citizens of Union County are requested to meet at the Court House in Liberty on Saturday the 6ih day of March next at otic o'clock for the purpose of contributing something to alleviate their distress at the present time. It is hoped that, there will be a general attendance, as a Bountiful Providence has blessed us with an abundant harvest during the past year, let us be willing to give a small share at least, unto those who are starting and dying Cot those things that we have in such abundance. Some accounlof the present condition of Ireland will be given to the meeting Feb. 20ih 1817. Fire More Provisions Burnt. Yesterday afternoon, a little after 2 o'clock, a (ire broke out in the Smokehouse attached to the Pork House of Sigerson & McLaughlin, at the foot of walnut street, near the Covington Ferry Landing. It soon communicated to the main building, which was totally destroyed to the hare walls, with a large amount of Pork, Hams, and Lard; besides injuring some thousand or two bushels of Corn, stored in the adjoining warehouse. The Committee on Military Affairs reported a bill to provide for an additional number of general officers, and for other purposes. Mr. McKay from the Committee of Ways and Means, reported a bill to increase the revenue derivable from duties on import?; also a bill to reduce the price of public lands, to aid in the prosecution of the war, which were read and committed. Deserters from the Army The advertisement, offering a reward for the apprehension oMeserters, published weekly by authority of the Adjutant General of the Army, contains the names of sixty-four men, said to have deserted from the Army or operations in Mexico.
