Since our last, the following charters have been granted: Efansville Division No. 54; Clatksburgh Division Xo. 53; American Eagle No. 5G, el JeffersonviHe. Brother John Mitchell, of Lyman Beecher Division has been appointed D. G. W. P. to organize No. 54. Bro. Uriah Edwards of Jefferson Diviston, for No. SO. And Bto. James M. Talbot, V. P. of Creensburgh Division, has been appointed D. G. W. P. to organize Clarksburgh Division No. 55. These brethren will organise these Divisions so soon as they are furnished with the necessary instruments. Bro. John W. Scott of Liberty, has been appointed D. G. V. P. to organize; Brownsville Division No. 53, which will probably be attended to some time the approaching week. Divisions Organized. Greensburgh Division No. 49, was organized on Triday evening by C. F. Clarkson, G. V. P., as sisted by C. II. Test, i:?q'r, V. P. o Wavr.e Division No. 2, A. W. Sullenber gor, P. W . p. and Waller Baker, A. C. of Indiana Division No. 1. There is quite a temperance feeling in Greensburgh, WHU.U nas been kept up ever since It was aroused by Bro. Test, a few weeks ago, Greensburgh Division commences in der favorable auspices. Janes M. Talbotl was installed W. P., John S. Scobcr, W. A. and Andrew Dyer, R. S. Clakkson Division, No. 46, was organized on the 9ih iii?t. hi South Bend, St. Joseph Co. Ind., by J. II. Orr, D. G. " . r. assisted by the regular officers of St. Joseph Division. The following a n usi ui me omccrs lor the present quarter: F R Tutt, w pS Colfax, w A, G XV Matthews, R s, F. P T.vlor, A R S, Jobn M Vcasv. F S. n F Miller, T, Genre- S Harris, C, W Wilmington, A C W W Clark, I S, J I Horrcll, O S, fcr, Horrell, P W P pro tcm. e esteem highly the compliment that has been conferred upon us by the lvrit tlrAVt x f at. If - vv....,u, uus uivision, ana teel we are unworthy of such an honor. We have labored zealously and faithful for the spread of our beloved order ever since it first reached the borders of our State. Believing it well calculated to promote the cause of Tmperance, and to bless and benefit mankind, we have sacrificed comfort, time and money in warning our fellow men from error's paih, and in striving to bring them within our circle or honor. If we have done any good.il was not done for earthly Tame or reward. "We live not for ourselves," and fearful indeed is the destiny of him who spends his whole time in avariciously gathering the goods of this world, and neglects all the charities, and moral and religious duties devolving upon him. But the name or this Division imposes additional responsibility upon us. Should we ever by the commission of acts, or by i neglect of our duty dishonor the name,! and cause the brethren to blush ror the name they have voluntarily chosen, pitiful indeed would be our situation. With he assistance of Providence, we will live and act so as not to bring reproach upon the name. We intend to spend our lime and talents better, and make ourselves fcmre useful, as we can fc-uher grace, and inflation, from experience and ftovn tl.euats.iu of all kujwledge.
Temperance Halls. W'ata w r a-. Inn.n.l I . .
w i7 ! n?7U in icarn tnai muiana Division No. 1 has made arrangements with John Pelsnr for buildino a new hall i nmediately. The building is to be 55 feet by 2 J. We hope the D. G. W. P's in thei mummy reports will inform the G. D. what movements the various Divisions are making throughout the State for erecting Halls. The summer season is approach ing, and whenever the Divisions are crowaea into small, poorly ventillated ft a rooms, tne cause will languish. Almost any Division can furnish itself with a suitable hall, either by building, or obtaining smx? one to build, by the Order agreeing to lease it for a term of years. Without comfortable rooms the Order is in a precarious situation. But we recommend brethren not to draw upon the regular funds of the Division Tor building or furnishing halls. Let the means be raised by subscription. Our Order is destined to be as permanent as time, improving by age and experience dispensing blessings in proportion as it gathers strength. Then let us lay a foundation worthy of its future destiny. In Madison, they have obtained a fine hall. The Indianapolis Divisions are making the necessary arrangements for building a hall worthy or the Order, and ornamental to the Seat of Government. At Lafayette they dedicate a new hall on the 22J inst. In Richmond they are putting up a neat hall. Wayne Division No. 2 enter a t,ew hall in a few weeks. At Conncrsville and Cambridge, we are informed, they have provided themselves with good halls. We wish all Divisions to be comfortable the approaching summer season. Patriot Division. We neglected to publish the D. G. W. P. for Patriot DivisionNo. 21. It is Bro. John D. lining. W. P. of Horeb Division No. 17. Clarksbnrg.Oa our return from Greensburgh,we tarried on Saturday night at Clarksburgh, Decatur Co. Ind. The citizens, having learned that Judge Test was in town, waited on, and requested him to deliver an address on temperance. lie consented. In a few minutes a large school house was filled with ladies and gentlemen. The Judge addressed them ably and eloquently for about one hour and a half not in foolish and fabricated anecdotes, but in reason, enforced with energy and spirit. At the conclusion a petition for a charter was drawn up and signed by 13 of the citizens of the place. The chatter has been granted. The Beauties of Our Order. We do not recollect of seeing any where the beauties of our Order pouitraved so perfectly in so small a space, as the following. It U taken from the firsl num ber of the ''Temperance Watchman," a neat and well filled semi-monthly, published at Nashville, Tennessee: "Our Order has no schemes of selfishness to effect, no projects of unholy ambition tj consumatc. It comes to the world with no claims to power, with no patronage to bestow. It attempts not lo alarm the fears of ihe weak by the devices of superstition, or to awaken the interest of men by an appeal to their prejudices. It has no marshalled hosts to awe the timid, no plumed warriors to lead on the charge. All it seeks to obtain is to conquer men from the dominion of evil, from the tyranny of passion. It aims to break in peices theclankless, yet enthralling chains of slavery which drunkenness, with its dark crimes, has thrown around the soul and body of man, and to throw wide the door of his prison-house and usher him into the light of that day of moral and intellectual liberty where freeman's sun shall beam upon his head; and thus redeemed from bondage, he may with a light heart and clastic step, walk forth joyous and free as the mountain rill that dances to the music of its own wild, merry laugh as rainbows gild its falling spray. D." Daughters of Temperance. The anni versary of this order was held at College Hall on Tuesday evening, under the most gratifying auspices. Although held in the largest room in the city, it was filled to overflowing, and many mors unable to gain admittance. Where we stood, we could not hear distinctly a word of the speeches, reports, &c. those who were more fori tin ate speak highly of them. It was gratifying to see so large an audience as the avails will be used to give a good start to the House of Employment. tin. Gaa. DJ"It was stated last Sunday, by Ret. Mr. Btecher, that there has been raised by the citizens of Indianapolis, f.r religious, social, and educational purposes, within the ten years last past, the large sum of US.OOO! This is independent too of small private charities of which no record has been kept. It will be remembered that the population has at no time exceeded fie thousand inhabitants, and not arcra-cd more than four thousand. The principal objects to which this sum has been applied are the building of churches; for missions, foreign and home; subscriptions to the erection and support of col'.egcs abroad, shcools within the ciiy, relief of the poor, &c Indian-.-.polis Sentinel.

Beecher says in one of his lectures: I may here as well as any where, impart the secrest of oori and bad luck. There are men, who, supposing Providence to have an implicable spite against them, bemoan in the poverty of a wretched old age the misfortunes of iheir lives. Luck forever runs against them and for others. One with a good profession, lost his luck in the river, where he idled away his time a fishingwhen he should have been in his office. Another, with a good tiade.perpetually burnt up his luck by his hot tempcr, whi'h provoked his employers to leave him. Another, with a lucrative business, lost his luck by amazing diligence at every thing but his business. Another, who steadily followed his trade; as steadily followed his bottle. Another, who was honest and constant at his work erred by perpetual misjudgment, h? lacked dis cretion. Hundreds lose their luck by endorsing; hy trusting fraudulent men; and by dishonest gains. A man never has good luck who has a bad wife. I never knew an early rising, hard work ing, prudent man, careful of his earnings, and stricly honest, who complained of bad luck. A good character, good habits, and iron industry are impregnable to the assaults of all the luck that fools ever dreamed of. But when I see a tatterdemalion, creeping out of a groceiy late in the afternoon, with his hands stuck in his pockets, the rim of his hat turned up, and the crown knocked in, I know he has had bad luck, for the worst of all luck is to be a sluggard, or knave, or a tipler. Christian Union. On yesterday week, several of the denominations in Carlisle, united in partaking of the Lord's Supper, in the First Presbyterian Church. The services on the occasion were conducted by the Rev. Messrs. Newlin, Lillie and Lyon, of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Messrs! Emory and Gere, of the Meihodist Episcopal Church, and the Rv Mr. Kremer, of the German Reformed Church: The congregation was very large, embracing professing Christians of ihe several evangelical communions in the borough. Arrangements have been msde for the repetition of these meetings at stated periods during the year, to be held in the several churches successively. The movement is In harmony with the best feelings of Christians, and cannot but be productive of the mosl desirable results. Adams Sentinel. Mr. Myers. It will be teen in our Mexican news that a man by ihe name or Myers has been badly wounded by some marauding M cxicans. We think it conld not hae been Jshn M. Myers from this place, as he was at Sahillo at our latest accounts. TO RRUGISTS. G. BEN J.
