Maj. aginst Woodbury. . .2,789 This will no', probably, be much reduced by the remaining towns. The Whigs and Independents have chosen one Councellor, ihe Radicals two, and there are three vacancies, which will be rilled by Whigs or Independents giving theanti Radicals the majority of the Conn" cil. This is the first time, for many years, that the Whigs have chosen a Counsellor. The Whigs and Independents have elected at least three Senators, and we hope 4; the Radicals probably three. The Senate consists of twelve members which, when filled, will stand nine anti-Radicals to three Locos. In the Senate of last year, there was but a single Whig! Great Freshet In the Susquehanna. The Susquehanna has been rolli,, u, an angry Hood of waters, far excellmg volume and Tearfulness, any thing ever bevlv knTB,i DridS"have been' swept a-way-milU destroyed, &c, &c. The bridge at Clark's Ferry, at the confluence of the Juniata with the Susquehanna, has been swept away. Also, the old upper bridge over the Susquehanna at Harr.sburg, by the combined action of the water and.ice, and the railroad bridge below has received some damage from the umbers of thfi other being dashed against it. Several miles of the river wall of thp canal above Columbia have been washed away. The turnpike and railroad bet ween Harr.sburgh and Highspire, a distance of six miles, are six feet under water. Another report says that the Railroad bridge at Harrisburg has been swept away. r The flood in the Delaware and Scuylkill rivers have also been very great. The Philadelphia Gazette of the 17ih ult says. About noon on Saturday, the waters were at their height. Both banks were overflowed; the Dam was only discernible by a slight curve; and the water at one tune actually readied nearly to the corner of Schuylkill, Front and Vine streets. AtNorristown, at Manayunk, and on the Schuylkill side of this city, work in the factories was suspended on Saturday, the water having risen within them so high as to preclude the possibility of using the engines and other machinery. The tow-path on the west side of the river was submerged lor many miles; and near the wire bridge, the water was about four feet deep upon it. The coffer dams erected for the improvment and enlargment of the Schuylkill Navigation, opposite Fair Mount, were damaged, the blasting chambers are filled with water; and we hear the loss to the company, independent of delay, is eftiiaated at several hundred dollars. We learn, however, that the water in the dams can be pumped out in three or four hours, and that the principal portion of these works will need but trifling repairs. We are gratified to bo able to report that no injury has resulted the water works further than the carrying awav of the little
