Organization of Divisions. Oi Wednesday ihe 25th of February, a number of the officers of Indiana Division Nj. I. of the Sjiis of Temperance, left this place to visit Connersviiie, Dublin, Centreviile and Richmond, to organize new D.visions in those places. The following gentlemen composed the company for this excursion, who served in the capacity as indicate J by the initials, la wit: John B. Davis, W. P.; C. F. Clarkson, P. W. P., John R Good win, W. A.; J. S, Ryman, R. S.; Geo. W. Keely, C; A. W. SclleneebgaR, A. C; Jackson Lynn, I. S.; Wm. Pbotzman. O. S. As the editor, as it will

Clark, C. R. II. M'Cormick, A. C. Thos. Burton, 1 S. R. C. Dratton, O. S. This Division lias a laborious task before idem- Spirituous liquors are used in the p'nee to a fearful extent. Besides opposing

low and more especially we found superior ostlers. We regretted to find that Mr. Sloan had a bar, but we trust from his good sense, and his views of right, he will abandon the 6ale of liquor. He tastes it not himself, and is convinced that it is injurious toothers, yet it is so hard to act in opposition to our interest when it is countenanced by law, and by many respectable persons in community. There may be other good Hotels in Richmond, but we are satisfied with Mr. Sloan's.

Washington, Feb. 19, lSlt). The debata on "the notice" was con' inned to-day in the Senate. Mr. D;s closed his elaborate argument in favor of the title of the United States to the whole territory of Oregon. Mr. Benton followed, and spoke for nearly an hour in defence of the notice. He drew a vivid picture cf tb! evil results of the joint occupancy, as it was called; but which was, he showed," like the reciprocity of a certain Hibernian, "all on one side" that of the British. Ho would vote for the notice, because it would terminate the present unfavorable state of thinga in Oregon, ac

celerate the negotiations, and lead, there

was good reason to hope, to an honorable peace. Mr. Benton took occasion to signify his entire and hearty concurrence in all that the Executive had done, and offered to do, in thia whole business. The Senate, after a short time spent in executive session, adjourned till Monday. The House, in the early stage of its session, got deep into. th discussion cf a subject which never fails tb excite considerable feeling the mileage of members and especially that branch known as constructive mileage. The b;.'J which gave rise to the discussion was not finally acted upon, as it could 'not be except under a suspension of the rules. The House ,then resumed, in committee, the consideration of the Indian appropriation bill, which before the adjournment, went through all the forms of legislation, and was passed. The House is marchin

manfully tip to its busiuess.
